We live where there are no cabs. DH is flying to Phoenix this Wed. and has been told to get a cab from the airport to his hotel and that the trip should be around $30. What would you tip the driver in addition to this fare?

He wants to have the right amount of cash with him and we're bumpkins who've never taken a cab, so we don't know what to plan for.

Thanks in advance!

I dont know, but I would think 5-7 dollars

I guess I'm cheap because I usually only tip cabbies about $2-3.

Just tip him $5-$9 depending on the amount of the fair. If the fair comes to a odd number like $31 you have to dish out $40. If it is $35 still just give $40. Make it simple and enjoy your trip. :sunny:

I had a friend that didn't tip the cabbie well and he got out of the car and was screaming at her about her being a cheap ***** as she walked down the Street....but this was NYC and it happens all the time LOL!

I'd probably give him 5 bucks and be done with it. $5 is still more than 15%. How long of a ride is it? If it would involve an hour's drive, I'd leave more, but I doubt that's the case here.
