Help....How is Boma

If you like ribs,go on a Wednesday or Saturday-that is when they are on the menu.

Oh no!! That's what my DD keeps talking about...the ribs...we are eating there this Sunday night...she'll be so disappointed that they will not be on the buffet!!

We absolutely love Boma! We go there every trip.

I've been twice and loved it so much I'm going on Sunday when I make an impromptu trip this weekend! I'm also going in Oct. with my family as well!!!! Boma rocks...BTW Jiko is WONDERFUL too!!!

Hi Everyone
I am thinking of trying Boma for the first time in September, I always get nervous trying new places, I don't wanna be disappointed, however, my aunt raves about this place and said they go several times every trip, so I was wondering what everyone here thought about it, Any reviews/advice would be greatly appreciated
Thanks
Hands-down my all-time favorite restaurant in the World. I've never had a bad meal at Boma.

I used to claim Boma's Zebra Domes as the World's Most Perfect Dessert... but I think Crystal Palace's Whiskey-Soaked Chocolate Trifle may have them beat.

I absolutely applaud Disney for offering a buffet with alternative foods. It's a dining adventure :) That being said, when we went we over heard a few people complaining about the "weird" food, and even one couple chewing out the waitress, demanding she find them some "PLAIN white bread" b/c they couldn't eat any of the "strange" food :sad2: I think it's a shame when people can't be open to new experiences. And even sillier when they don't research where they're eating at WDW. That's like showing up at McD's and complaining b/c they serve hamburgers.

HOWEVER, I enjoyed trying every thing, but personally Boma wasn't my favorite in terms of favorite taste. This is NOT a quality issue, only a personal preference b/c I am not a big fan of sweetened food, and a lot of the food had a slightly sweet edge to it (to understand what I mean, I don't like sweet and sour anything, and I've just started being able to eat a little BBQ sauce). It's not SWEET-sweet, just sort of Thai-food type sweet (peanut sauce, etc). But I still found stuff to eat, and again enjoyed trying things. I know everyone loves the Zebra Domes, but I went nutso for this one dessert...don't remember what it's called, but it was chocolate and had a slightly crispy bottom layer.

I think it's a place everyone should try at least once!

As many times as I've stayed at AKL, I've never been to Boma. We eat at Jiko's. Love Jiko's! Never wanted to give it up to try Boma, although that was the original plan years ago...

Love Boma. Will be trying Jiko for the first time as well this next trip.

I think there's plenty for a non-adventurous palate. The dishes are labeled quite carefully so you're not going in blind -- if the dish says "chicken, coconut rice, ginger" or whatever, you will have a general idea if it's something you want to put on your plate. Sometimes the seasoning may seem peculiar to you (e.g. what US folks consider "baking" spices on main courses, etc.) but that just makes it DIFFERENT, not scary or bad.

The soups and salads and rices alone are magnificent.

I was underwhelmed with the zebra domes, but obviously they have a big fan base! I usually end up with fruit for dessert because I'm not big on creams and such. But the fruit has always been a very welcome dessert!

Can't wait to get to Jiko this trip and finally try Filet Mignon and mac'n cheese!

We were a little worried about the spices our first time so I convinced DH (who HATES buffets) to eat there instead of Jiko so we wouldn't be stuck with picking one dish and maybe not liking it. Ended up being his favorite meal our entire trip!! We're trying Jiko next time but also including Boma.

The chefs were all really nice and very eager to talk to you about any dishes you had a question or concern about. Definitely try the she-crab soup!!

I'm also not a zebra dome fanatic. Love chocolate but they were just OK. Found plenty of other desserts to love though!!
