My DD6 wants to dress up as Tinkerbell for one day while we are at MK. We are going to be at WDW in December. How do I keep her warm? She doesn't want to wear a jacket since it would cover all of her costume. Anyone else has encounterd this problem? What do you do?

I'm planning to bring her some extra clothes to change into. But when she is wearing her costume, is there something like a beige color bodysuit I could put on her underneath the costume? I have tried looking for this elusive bodysuit near my home (Calgary, Canada) but no luck.

How about long johns? THe beige silky kind? Remember during the day it may not be that cold--especially compared to Canada!. Maybe she can change at night if it gets too cold for her.

Hi,
DD was Tink for Halloween last month. I put her in layers of a white undershirt, a thin short sleeved tshirt, and then a white turtleneck. She wore a thick, white stocking to keep her legs warm. This is in Pa where it is usually cold by Halloween. Although it wasn't a very cold Halloween, she stayed warm even without a jacket during trick or treat.

Ice skating tights are body colored and made to be really warm!! My neice used them when she wwent as a cheerleader one Halloween. They even have the long sleeve unitard..

If it's a December day like we have been fortunate enough to experience the three years we have gone in December you won't have to worry about it because it will be very warm (we wore shorts all but maybe 1 or 2 days out of 20 over 3 different years). But I would second tights and a white turtleneck if it's a cooler day.

I vote against the unitard - sounds like a potty accident waiting to happen with a 3 year old. my girls have been princesses for halloween - we layer a white turtleneck and undershirt under the costume, then coordinating leggings. for us, legging color hasn't been as much of an issue because of long skirts, but Tink is harder.

My DD was Tink for Halloween here in Wisconsin. I dressed her in one of her pink long-sleeved leotards from ballet and thick pink tights. Using the bathroom was a problem, since we had to take the costume off, then the leotards and then the tights. But ... even without the leotard you'll have 2 things to take off. I think I bought the leotard from Target.

I agree, but her daughter is six. My six year old does just fine with a leotard and the potty all by herself. It isn't the easiest thing, but at six we don't need to use the potty every seventeen minutes like we used to either.

With a three year old, leggings and a long sleeved shirt.

My DD was Tink a few years ago here in Michigan and we swear by the flesh colored leotard and matching tights (found it the ice rink). Very warm and didn't have to worry about "ruining the costume" princess:

have fun!

Thank you all for the wonderful replies. I've been racking my brains out trying to figure out what to do. I've looked into six different stores, dance stores, skating stores, department stores but have been told they couldn't help me. I knew I've come to the right place on the DIS here with my question. :cool1:

I think I'll try the turtleneck and tight route. My daughter has a pink tight from her ballet class and I've got tons of turtleneck for her.

crisi, I went to the danskin website, they have some great stuff on there. :sunny: I wish I could order the "Girls' Nylon Mock Turtleneck Top Style No. 9778 in white". It would have been perfect but they don't ship to Canada. :confused3 Oh well.....maybe they'll ship to Canada sometimes in the future.

Thanks everyone! :goodvibes

I just checked AccuWeather.com - it looks like the high on Dec. 2 (15 day forcast) is 77. The 15 day forcast is not very accurate - but it should give you a good idea of the general range for this time of year. The last 3 years we have always worn shorts & t-shirts during the day. You will probably be fine w/ nothing - as long as she wears it during the day - it does get chilly at night.
