This is our first trip Home and I feel so lost. We are leaving in 8 days and I don't have a clue what to pack. I feel like all my planning has left my head. I am not new to going to Disney. I have gone several times when my 18 DD was younge, Just the two of us. This is a whole new experince. There are 6 of us going staying in a 2 Bedroom at OKW. DH, Me, DD 18, DDF 18, DD 5, DS 3.5. I am feeling so confused today. Can anyone please help with some words of advice and calm my nerves. Thanks :earseek: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

HI there
We are leaving in 9 day, we are a family of 4, me dh, dd6 and ds3, we are going for 5 days, we are packing 2 pairs of jeans, 2 pairs of shorts, bathing suit, 3-4 t shirts, 2-3 long sleeve shirts, 1-2 sweatshirts and since we are flying from the Philly area we will have our jackets, hats, gloves, we needed them for 2 days when we were at DW back in Jan 04. We dress in layers and take off what is not needed, hope this helps

Princesswoodymom, remember that since you have a 2 bedroom you have a washed/dryer so you don't need to pack a whole lot ( maybe just 4 suitcases each :rotfl: ) Just relax and have fun and don't miss SOARING AT EPCOT if you havn't been yet.

Don't worry, you'll be fine!!

As to clothes, think LAYERS!!! DW in Jan can get cold in the evenings. Last Jan we went for 7 days (DH, me, DD 7, DS 6 & DD 5) and I packed 2 pairs of long pants for everyone in the family and sweats for the plane ride. Turns out, we wore them every day, but with a washer and dryer, no problem! I think we only broke out the shorts one day, but be prepared with them also! And for nights we the temps dipped into the 40's, we wore long sleeve t-shirts with sweatshirts and windbreakers over them and were fine. When we watched Fantasmic, we bought beach towels as souveniers and used them like blankets for extra warmth!

I think last Jan was colder than normal, so hopefully you'll get warmer days than us! My other planning tip is BACKPACKS! Use them to store kid activities for the plane/car ride. Empty them when you get there and take them along to the parks to store an extra shirt, sweater, etc. The upside of the cooler Jan weather is that touring the parks is so much easier than in the heat and I think you will find Jan is not that crowded. We didn't make any PS for dinners until we got there and we were fine.

As for OKW, you should have everything you need in your room. If you don't, you can buy almost everything you need or want. I always bring along sugar packets, tea bags and individual packs of coffee so I don't have to go looking for them. Also a kitchen wipe, fabric softener sheets (packed in the luggage so clothes smell fresh) and some extra powdered laundry detergent (double ziplocs should be fine)- again, just to make my life easier. Depending on how long you're staying, you may want to do a grocery store run (there are plenty of threads on this).

Other than that, don't worry - you'll be having tons of fun in 8 days!!!!!

I think the hardest thing is getting used to not "overpacking". I did well last month :) This time of year it is a good idea to take at least one good, wind & water proof, heavy winter coat...you may or may not actualy need it...but if the weather is cold in FL it can feel VERY cold. Other than that pack about 3 days worth of clothes for everyone and use that washer/dryer. :)

You guys have calmed my nerves I think my biggest fear is overpacking...I am trying to pack some food stuff as we will not have a car. I only want to have one delivery. I just wonder how much we will eat in the room. I got DDE card but still meals out for 6 can get epensive..

I go through the same thing. About a week before departure I hit the BRAIN FREEZE with a little freaking out. You will get through it. Just do your best. Remember you are going to have a fantastic time. Even if you don't remeber something or run a little short on food (or too much food).

I am always amazed to see people at Disney who have done no planning. You are way ahead because you are planning.

Time to get excited as you are just days from being at the Happiest Place On Earth!!
