So I have recently booked for may, staying at the metropolitan express on i-drive, for me (17) an my 18 year old friend, however I've just noticed a website saying you must be 21 or over to check in! Will they litrally not let us check in?! Worrying now :(

Hi

I had friends that also booked some where on I drive that had to be 21 to stay but one of their parents rang and said that they were responsible adults etc and the hotel was fine with them staying if you are worried just ring before you go!

Thanks, I have jsut sent them an email, if they don't reply in the enxt few days I'll give them a ring. I knew you would have to be over 18 since we had to be when we booked Disneyland Paris, I never thought about it ebing 21 in the US. I have just seen a something on yahoo Answers though that said the hotel was fine with an 18 year old checking in since they rang their parents also, so hopefully it won't be an issue.

i checked into a hotel before i was 21 on my own in orlando with no problems at all, my and my husband were both under 21 at the time

Yeah it seems most people havn't had a problem, I've just been doing a quick search on the net and havn't found anyone who has actually been turned away, most people have said either they had to have permission from their parents or that the rules are basically ignored.

I never did quite understand the logic with US age laws. 21 to drink alcohol, 16 to drive?

Me and my ex girlfriend, i was 20 and she was 18 at the time had no problem checking into PO FQ, but that was quite a few years ago now!!!! Theres too many candles on my birthday cake now!!!

They sent me an email back earlier...

Thank you for contacting The Metropolitan Express.

We understand that individuals are different in their behavioral patterns and we use the age of 21 as a gauge for our guests, however, we will make an exception if you are under 21 and are in the possession of a major credit card. That to us shows a form of maturity.

We look forward to hosting you.

Don't see how having a credit card shows 'maturity' LOL, but atleast I know it won't be an issue now. Thanks for the advice guys.

Think it might mean that they will have your CC on file, so any damages or leaving without paying will be able to get charged to it

Good news. It would probably be worth taking a copy of that email along with you in case the staff member at check-in isn't aware of the arrangement.
