Headed to WDW with my hubby and 3 DDs, ages 9, 6, and 3. I know the two little ones will want to wear their princess dresses to the parks... oldest daughter probably not, but I don't want her to feel left out. Any ideas on something fun for her to wear that won't seem to "little girl-ish" to her?

i'd ask her what she wants. mine wouldn't have wanted anything dress up to wear, but a new outfit might be a fun idea.

Ummm... well, not quite that easy. This trip is a total surprise. Picking them up from school and hitting the road!

Mine wouldn't have wanted anything dress up either at that age. I think that was the trip she bought a nice tinkerbell visor, it was one of the cloth ones and she wore it for a couple of years. Or maybe a nice Disney bag she can carry in the park.

I bought a tiara at Claire's in the mall and my 14, 16 & 23 yr olds wore them all over the parks. Be careful though if you do go to Claire's make sure to purchase a child tiara, they worked just fine for my adult size girls but were about $10.00 cheaper for each tiara.

Maybe a tinkerbell tee shirt or another favorite character? My DD was 7 last time we were there and she did wear the costume dresses mostly but one day she just wore a dress that had Ariel on it and had an Ariel pin. She got tons of comments on the Ariel. She is 9 now and I am pretty sure she is going to want to still wear her Minnie dress when we go in Sept.

I bought my 9 year old a couple of custom outfits for our trip in November and she loved them, looked awesome and was skipping thru the park having a great time......you can get appliqued jeans and a shirt, halter top and shorts or what ever she normally prefers to wear........

Very cute... did you buy from anywhere in particular?

yah I am not sure that my 8 year old would wear a costume type outfit. But what about some Wizards of Waverly Place, Hannah Montanna or Sonny with a Chance stuff. That is what my little one like and you might be able to find some cheap new shirts on the disney outlet site. That is what we did last time. Oh and classic characters like Daisy and Minnie, she said they made her feel grown up cause only babies wear princess's all the time. Just a thought.

Yeah... I discreetly asked last night about it.... sort of a "hey, next time we're at WDW what costumes would be fun?" My little girls wanted fairy costumes. Oldest said maybe a cool outfit with leggings and a red/white polka dot top like Minnie. Thinking I can find some cute boutique something-or-other for her.

I was surprised that my daughter wanted to wear them and actually loved them and had a great time......i know she would never wear them to school but for our first Disney trip she had a blast with it...

I like the idea of the leggings with a Minnie Mouse polka dot top. That sounds adorably cute, but also cool enough for a big girl!
A year ago DD had Hannah Montana and High School Musical outfits where the top looked like a long shirt with a flaired (skirt-like) bottom that ended about mid thigh. She wore them with matching leggings. These were very cute. I bet you could still find something like that in Hannah, Wizards, or Tinkerbell.
I know my DD would get a kick out of the tiara too since she used her own money to buy herself one last year just for fun! :thumbsup2

canadian, those outfits are adorable.

Oh, my goodness! Canadian... those outfits are super cute!!! Did you make them? Thanks for posting!

And, indimom... totally gotta' get a tiara!

Why don't you just take her out ( just the two of you) and pick out a few new outfits from a big girl store like Justice or Aeropostale for her to wear on vacation. That way she won't feel left out, but won't have to wear little girl costume outfits.

DD said she was "too old for a princess dress", but I knew she didn't want to feel left out. So, she did BBB and then wore a cute sundress that we brought along. She was also happy w/some special t-shirts that were disney themed. Maybe surprise her w/a tie dye mickey shirt.

Walmart has some funky Minnie Mouse tee's in the girls dept. right now. My girls layer with cami's and that magically makes them cool enough to wear out :rolleyes1. Walmart also has Disney shirts in the Jr Dept that are cute.

My girls love wearing characters tees and tanks. They don't want to wear much more then that (they wouldn't wear those customs) but we all wear Disney character/themed clothes when we go to DLR. I would just get her some tees with her favorite characters on them and give them to her when you get there. :)

I would also check on etsy! They have some really cute different custom options that would be lots of fun!
