We are planning another trip to Disney in December 2006 and want to try the Poly. :Pinkbounc

We will probably get a garden, maybe a lagoon view but I'm concerned about the walk from some of the buildings to the main building to get to the monorail. I have looked at the map, but can't really tell how far of a walk it would be. My husband and I will be traveling with our DD6 and DD1. Some of you that have stayed there, how is the walk? Is there a particular building that I should request? Thanks in advance for the help!

Hi-
We have stayed at the Poly several times. I personally do not feel that the walk is bad from any of the buildings. I know some might disagree. I have a toddler and arthritis, but I have never requested a certain building. I LOVE everything about this resort. I would go to Tikiman's site as he gives details about each building. Good luck!!

While the resort is large, it really is not much of a hike from any of the longhouses to the Great Ceremonial House. I'd estimate that the distance between the furthest longhouse from the Great Ceremonial House is the equivalent of two city blocks. And remember, the Ticket and Transporatation Center is an easy walk from some of the longhouses. The resort is beautiful and I loved staying there. The great landscaping makes walking around the resort a real pleasure.

I usually stay in Tahiti which is near the end of Polynesian complex. It might be a five minute walk to the main building or pools, and from Tahiti it is also about 5 minutes to the Ticket and Transportation Center.

I'm not sure I'm adding anything to the previous responses, but we've stayed there twice (7/2002 and 11/2003). The first trip was with DW, DD2.5 and DD5. No real problems with the hike to the monorail. We also trek to the the TTC, which for us was a longer hike but did not stress out DD2.5.

30 days to Poly and counting down! :cool1: If I can make it through the next two weeks at the office, it will all be downhill from there! :goodvibes

thanks for all responses--I am going to look at the website that was posted now. I know we would love the resort, just wanted to know what to expect before arriving.

My DD's were 5 and 4 last trip and we stayed first floor Samoa facing volcano pool. I just have to say I am praying I get this same location next trip. You open your patio door and you are 10 steps from the pool(great for bathroom etc.) also a 5 second walk to Captain Cooks and the GCH. For toddlers this is absolutely the best. It was also so quiet, we were never bothered by noise etc. I am not sure when they are renovating Samoa but a flat screen is so down on the list of important room amenities compared to this location for my family. Good luck!

We really enjoyed the location of our garden view room in the Figi longhouse(it's too late at night, I can't remember if you spell it Figi or Fiji). We were on the 3rd floor facing the Grand Floridian, beach and the wedding pavillion. We could see the monorail from our room, which our kids loved. It was very close to the monorail station which is what I wanted. It was so great going to the Magic Kingdom...we could put our youngest in her stroller in our room, and never have to get her out all the way into the MK. Enjoy your stay!

Hi.. Our last wonderful stay at the Poly included my Mom, who uses a scooter due to asthma and mobility problems. I mentioned this when I made reservations and we were assigned to a ground floor room in Raratonga. It was heavenly. I felt the location was absolutely perfect. Raratonga is alongside the main building, just steps away from the side entrance. It was convenient to all the restaurants plus Captain Cook's for drink refills. Our room faced the quiet pool. We were just a minute's walk from the Volcano pool. If you went out the other end of the hallway, you were right at the arcade, kid's club and laundry. I truly felt like we were in the middle of everything, yet the room felt quite private. We had a wonderful time and look forward to going back.

Stayed there in 2002 and loved it. Had a garden view room in the Tokelau building, but it had a beautiful view of the lagoon & the Grand Floridian. One morning I woke up to see hot air balloons over the Floridian. The walk from this building to the main pool, main building & monorail is quick. The quiet pool is right there and it's about a 5 minute or so walk to the TTC. Please keep in mind that this area does not open until 7:00am and that the monorail to EPCOT does not start until 7:30am.

I didn't think any of the buildings were really that far from the GCH. We were in Tahiti and really enjoyed our walks on the property. It's so beautiful.

Thanks for all the responses. I think we will enjoy staying at the poly, especially the monorail access. I feel better to know that the walk is not that bad from any of the buildings. One of our trips in the past we have stayed at the CB and had such a long walk to the main building and did not want to encounter this again. I feel better about this. Thanks everyone who replied for the help!

I hsve to give another thumbs up for Rarotonga. As another posted said it is very covenient to all areas but I also found it to be quiet. We had a first floor room which was great for our DD (2yrs) with a stroller. I too love being able to get on the monorail to MK. We used to stay in CBR and loved it, but decided to try Poly. I might go back to CBR when my DD is older but for right now Poly is the best. Be careful - you will get spoiled staying there. Enjoy!!

Hi - DH and i just flew back home this morning. We stayed for 8 nights at WDW and had our 1st stay at the Poly for 3 of them. We had booked a graden view room and went with no preconceived ideas and were assigned 3rd floor Samoa with the most amazing view of the pool and the GF looking over at the wedding pavilion. We could also see Big Thunder Mountain and if you stood right at the left corner of the balcony and looked round, there was the Castle. It was superb and the most comfy bed ever - we stayed last night at the Dolphin as no availability at the Poly, and felt it was even comfier than the heavenly bed. Great location, great view, no noise - resort not as spread out as we expected either.
Have fun

We also just got back from a trip to Disney - staying at the Ploy in the Samoa building - I too thought it great for the kids - close to pools - close to Captain Cooks and close to the GCH. We stayed in connecting rooms 3612/3611 - while not the greatest view the rooms were nice and big and the location excellent.
