Help from Green Bay people

I am taking my S on a college tour trip. I am going through Green Bay on my way to Chicago and would like to stop in Green Bay for the night.

I am looking for a hotel and am finding it a little difficult. I need to stop on a Saturday night and it looks like the hotels are crowded due to the casino.

Could someone recommend a town that is close to Green Bay where I could find a cheap, clean room for the night. It doesn't look like there is much north of Green Bay but would I be able to find a hotel if I got tired. If I don't stop in Green Bay, is there anywhere slightly south that I would have more luck finding a hotel.

Try Manitowoc. It's about 20 minutes or so south of Green Bay. If that doesn't work check out Two Rivers. Both of these are right off the interstate.

south of Green bay is DePere about 5 miles continueing south is the fox city area look under Kaukauna, Kimberly, Little Chute or about 25-30 miles south of Green bay is Appleton and in Appleton there is every chain you can imagine many many motels and hotels and they are right off of 41 which is one of 2 routes you can take to Chicago. When are you coming? If it is in early June there is a really big soccer tournament going on and I have heard everything is booked far and wide.

North of Green bay there is a lot of areas without much "civilization" so if you are planning on heading to Chicago the next day I would head south.

If you want to go longer than Appleton next is Neenah, Oshkosh (about 1 hr)

If you don't need to be right in Green Bay I wou8ld go to Appleton super simple drive and lot's to choose from luxury to cheapo and no bad neighborhoods and lots of restaurants and a big mall. Any specifics just ask
