Help from Central Florida Residents please

I am in need of assistance from central Florida residents. I am looking for a place to park/stay in my motorhome in the central Florida area. When I google online, it gives me a lot of vacation RV resorts that charge a per day fee, and are not really for long term stays. We'd like to stay between three to six months over the winter, and just leave it in that spot while we are not in Florida, the rest of the year. We'd like to be within an hour of WDW if possible. Before everyone tells me to post on the Camping Board, I already did last week. Most of the people on that board are vacationers that stay at the Disney Campground, and are not familiar with the area, so I got 2 responses, which were daily rate vacation resorts for RV, not long term. That ends up being around $1400 a month for a slab of cement...NOT BUDGET FRIENDLY.

So, while you central Floridians are out and about, if you notice an RV resort, could you take a mental note of the name, and where you saw the place and post it here please. Then, with a name I can look them up and see if it's what we are looking for. Or, even if you don't live in the area, and you know of a place, please let us know. Thanks.

I live about 40min away from the mouse and here is nice park http://www.lakelandrvresort.com/. My Aunt and Uncle have stayed here several times and said it was nice. Not sure of the rates though. Publix, CVS within walking distance and there is Applebees, MCdonalds, Wendys, Starbucks and 5 Guys within 2min drive. Oh and I-4 is about the same distance.

I'm not an rv'er but I would think that if you call one of those resorts that you see Daily Rates for they might offer longer term rentals that just are not advertised. ANd if you call to ask and they say NO you can ask them "well, can you tell me where I can do a long term rental?" and chances are that they will know.

I just googled "central florida long term rv parking" and came up with this website. Scroll halfway down and there is a list of long term campground and rv park destinations.

There's an Encore RV resort in Pasco County (just a bit over an hour drive to WDW) that allows long term RVing. I don't know their rates, but I know they would be cheaper than LazyDayz! If you or your spouse is military or retired military, there's also a HUGE FamCamp at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa. I think it runs $13 a day and people stay there all winter and longer!

I know that there are storage places where you park your RV. We rented a camper from one that does rentals on consignment. Unfortunately I have no recollection of who that was. But I don't know if you could just store it there without renting it out.

I wouldn't leave an RV parked year round at a resort if you intend to just stay there snowbird style (a chunk of months of a certain part of the year).

They have facilities like that because many HOA's don't let you store you RV's there. So these storage facilities take care of that part.

Someone posted about Beverly Beach. We've stayed there and loved being right on the beach but it is expensive. I did find wekivafallsresort dot com it looks nice and is reasonably priced. I haven't seen it yet but it looks worth a try. Please post back if you do.

I'll most definitely report what I find out. I do know that every summer my friend's boss puts everyone up at Wekiva Falls for a weekend for their annual summer employee/family get together and they just love it there. I have seen their photos and saw tents and RV's right next to the water. I'll get more info tomorrow from them and post the positives and negatives. It looks like it's about 45 miles from WDW...not bad at all.

Thanks! I just hope I know soon if we can go this year. I'm so afraid we won't find a place. We normally head to FL. in Feb. for the races in Daytona. But I'm in the middle of hopefully selling my business and our daughter and her family are moving to the Philippines for 2 years, the end of Oct. So we're pretty free for the winter. We've always stayed at some nice campground but if we're going to be traveling more and away for longer periods of time, we will have to be a little more cost conscious Who knows, if we're there for the winter we may see you there.

Friends of the family used to Stay in Central Park 1, Campers Haven. It's in Haines City. It's an older campground, but has a good community feel. At the time the majority of the "residents" were seasonal. They offer bull pen storage, and an unoccupied summer rate. They really liked Haines City.

We timed it, and from their front door, to Epcot's "front door" it was 1/2 hour. Since they are south of disney they don't have to drive through orlando to visit the Mouse.
