HELP for my kitchenaid!!

i was using my kitchenaid stand mixer the other day. it wsn't over loaded and the food in it wasn't over heavy. after i was done and lifted the top to get the bowl out i saw oil running out from the mechanism and down the 'neck'.
this wasn't cooking oil it was more like WD-40!
has anyone else had this happen??

Has it been a while since you last used it? Maybe it's the lubricant. It may have gotten heated up while you were using it.

My suggestion is to go to Kitchenaid's site and email them.

How long have you had it? Mine blew the motor when I first got it and I called them and they sent me a brand new one. I was very pleased with their customer service.

according to my serial number i am told that it is a 2002 model although i haven't had it that long.. i bought it while living in this house and i've only been here since 2004.
anyway, they do tell me that it's the lubricant, that it's 'food grade oil' and even though it smells nasty and it's something i certainly wouldn't feed to my kids, they feel that i should spend and unknown amount of money to fix it PLUS $32 for the kit to send it in. so they can... add more oil to it!!
i'm pretty upset at kitchenaid, it wasn't inexpensive and i feel like i should just dump the stupid thing, i'm afraid i'll be feeding my kids motor oil if i use it!
