Hello, I am a Californian who visits Disneyland often but knows nothing about Disneyworld. I am tentatively planning a short trip in late January to celebrate my daughter's 21st birthday. She goes to college in the south (but has been home distance learning since March) and was 2 days away from going to Disneyworld for spring break when Covid hit and the parks closed. She was also supposed to do the DCP this fall, also cancelled. She has dreamed about being in Epcot for her 21st. We have a tight schedule and can only be there January 27-29, 2021. We will for sure do Epcot, Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios. Is Yacht Club a good, central place to stay for three people? We normally don't spend much time in the room but since park hours are shorter I want to have options. It is overwhelming with all the choices, limited as they are right now!

I think that for your plans, an Epcot resort like Yacht is perfect. You can walk (or boat but it's not a far walk) to Epcot from there, also walk to Hollywood Studios, take a boat, or take the Skyliner. You'll have to take a bus to Magic Kingdom, but I still think staying at an Epcot resort is your best bet. Have fun -- it's a great resort!

I spent Veterans Day weekend at Beach Club last year, right next door to Yacht Club, and imo you really can't beat the location as a home base for a short trip. Some people will say not to spend so much if you're really not going to be in the room too much and for such a short trip, but from experience all of that time spent on transportation really adds up when your time is limited. Being able to walk to 2 parks is huge, especially given the bus situation at present due to distancing.

I definitely agree that this is a great fit for you especially since you will want to focus more on the stuff you can't do in CA.

No one Disney hotel is closest to all of the parks, so it is mostly a matter of personal preference and budget. Lots of older threads where people discuss staying at the various hotels. The Disney website has a lot of good/detailed maps to give you a sense of where everything is located.

I've stayed there twice since opening, with the last time being 2 weeks ago at Thanksgiving for 7 nights, and we really enjoyed our stay and the easy walk to two parks (especially Epcot). We enjoyed sitting on the balcony at night and chilling, and there are several choices for food in the evenings as well (we ordered food from Ale & Compass to go one night and ate in our room, so nice after a long day in the parks, and the breakfast is *two thumbs up*). You also have two QS to choose from (YC & BC), pool bar in the evening for a quick drink and grab and go food, and lounges. The rooms are nice and new, and even though I had issues with my August stay they have made vast improvements since then, and I would stay there again.

I think, particularly as you are planning on doing both EP and DHS during the short amount of time you will be there, YC is an excellent choice. You will be able to walk to EP and walk, boat or Skyliner to DHS. I think you will find it very convenient and the rooms, IMHO, are very comfortable.

I think YC is an excellent choice given what you describe. On a short trip, time is of the essence and being able to walk to two of the three parks on your list is a valuable attribute, in my opinion.

YC is often our choice for a long weekend adults trip. Good central location, a bit of an adult vibe, the rooms are recently refurbished and sleek.

All around great choice and good for someone not that familiar with WDW.

I agree! And I’ve never even stayed there! (Closest is the Newport Bay
Club at Disneyland Paris! Haha) you have so many options for food, and even places to walk around....it’s so great not having to deal with tons of buses

I was planning on Epcot for my birthday this year before the shutdown too! Have so much fun! (Also, you’ll be around the for festival of the arts I think? Yay!)

Excellent choice. We are disney regulars, DVC and have stayed at all the resorts multiple times. For a short trip, visiting EPCOT and HS, yacht club is a great choice. It is also a beautiful resort and the boardwalk area is fantastic.

Californian here, too! :)
You will love YC. It is a fantastic resort in a beautiful area, and the ability to easily walk to both Epcot and HS can’t be beat. It’s also great for an adults only trip. DH and I stayed there on our last trip in July 2019 and we absolutely fell in love with it. It’s quiet, peaceful, and just lovely. Enjoy your trip!

YC is my fave resort so good choice there! I am from CA too and if you are short on time, I would switch MK for AK. I love MK but most of the rides are similar or the same to Disneyland. AK is completely different and something you can't see at Disneyland. Have a great time!

We just left beach club villas yesterday. It’s the best location for Epcot. Yacht club is nice too but depending on your party size I’d look into renting BCV or BWV. You’d probably save good money. If money is no concern then by all means YC is awesome though it was a ghost town. BCV has this little path that leaves you right at the bridge to Epcot, & the new Gondolas. It’s was actually quicker for us to take the gondolas from HS back over to the Epcot station because it dropped us off right close to this path!! Plus gave us an opportunity to ride them!! We also walked to HS in the morning and that was fine too. Great location all the way around. Plus you have great ice cream at Beaches and cream!!

YC was is where we stayed for my first on-site stay. I've been hooked on that area ever since! I think it's an excellent location for your trip! We've been to WDW 3 times since they re-opened and stayed in the boardwalk area each time. I discovered that the Marketplace at the YC is my favorite of all of the quick serve places around the boardwalk.

Have a great trip!
