I am hoping you kind ladies can help me I am kind of in a jam!

I have my reception at the Yacht club on July 6th at 8pm. I just got my BEO back and after about 1/3 of my guest dropped out we are now around $1,200 under budget! So I have to add something in. I added all of the flowers and food that I could possibly want.....I even got the chocolate fountain! I do not want characters. A few of you kind ladies made some suggestions but nothing is catching my eye.....I didnt want to add a MK photo session. My wedding planner suggested a charactcher artist but thats soooooo not us. They metioned a balloon artist but that is a little too circus for me lol! I had asked about adding a dessert party on to our rehersal dinner but because it is not the day of the wedding it will not count towards my minimum (we cant do one the day of because my reception goes until 1AM). I even googled creative ideas for extras at your reception and I didnt get anything there either. Any help would be great!

Is your reception in a ballroom at the Yacht club? Do you have a theme? <- this might help everyone suggest some ideas because we'll have an idea of what your reception will be like. What about your colors? Do you have chair covers on the chairs? Sashes? ummmm... Is your reception going to be traditional (DJ, dancing, cut the cake, etc)? If we all brainstorm, I'm sure we'll be able to help you find some perfect touches to add to make your reception very memorable!

Cosi Bella,

My colors are red and sliver, it is in two smaller sections of cape cod hall.

I added in the chair covers (it was the first thing I cut and the first to go back in once the numbers dropped!).

Our reception is kinda traditional nothing out of the ordanary but thats not saying that we couldnt add something out of the norm. We are not announing our cake cutting, we are not doing the bouquet toss or garter toss.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I thought about that too but in my list of personal preferences that would be the last thing I could think of adding. We really only need one limo, and all of our gusts will be renting cars.

As stressful as this must be for you.... I really hope I have your problem! :worship: :rotfl2:

What is the schedule for your day?

If I'm not mistaken, doesn't all food and drink the day of count towards the minimum? Why don't you have a brunch or tea or something earlier in the day?
Or are you giving out favors to your guests? You could order them through Disney Floral.

Good luck spending!

I know! Everyone thinks has said that "I wish I was in your position!"

We have hair and makeup appts starting at 11. Followed by pictures at 6 ceremony at 7:30 cocktail hour at 8:30 reception at 9:30 ending at 12:30.

I thought about having tea but is like 9:30 too early? We would have to go somewhere then come all the way back to the hotel.....

Thanks!

I think if you give more description of what you have for the reception like menu, decor, food, favor etc it may be easier for these talented ladies to come up with a great option.

My vote would be the chocolate favors - everyone loves some chocolate. And this is something they do not have to eat that night - they can have it for breakfast the next morning.

Have you added a sorbet course in an ice sculpture to your menu?

How about confetti canons for your last dance?

Cinderella Slipper dessert?

I have a few ideas, not really knowing what of this you might already have planned:

upgrading your videography or photography packages?
a candy buffet where the guests take the candy with them as a favor?
chocolate placecards from Disney
a bridal breakfast.

My reception starts with the cocktail hour we will have a cheese display, scollops wrapped in bacon and shrimp cocktail (we could add on another app thats not fish but if I dont have to then I dont want to)

For the meal we have:
crab cakes
ceaser salad
parmasan crusted chicken with a cream sauce and filet with marsala sauce, mashed potoes and veggy.
chocolate slipper dessert
wedding cake
chocolate fountain

We already have favors that we will be using as the place cards as well. I made white candles with small mickeys on them that I put in clear plastic bags with red ribbon on them with the table numbers.

My reception decor is almost all red roses very romantic feeling ish lol I am the worst describer in the world!

I am not entirely sure what I would like to add..... I was hoping something at the reception that will be a small surprise (the chocolate fountain was the surprise but my father ruined that yesterday when he told everyone at a family dinner!)

Thanks!

I used Randy as my photographer and I am not having a videographer. As for the food there is already so much....I was thinking of something more interactive I think.

I Did A Video With Disney Videography It Came Out Awesome And Very Worth The Money!!!! That Would Fill Your Beo!!!!

Are You Doing A Staged Exit With Flower Petals??

What About Your Vendor Meals???

i thikn the sorbet course is a good sugestion and also the confetti canons!!
maybe you can have a harpist or violinist at the cocktail hour or add an action station at the pre reception. or maybe some crystals in the flowers.
hummm : as for a unique idea at reception m,aybe....the candy artist he does the sugar candy it looked so cool in japan at epcot??

I'm going to second Skylarr's suggestion of the sorbet on ice sculpture. I went to a Disney wedding where a raspberry sorbet on an ice sculpture of Cinderellas slipper with an LED light underneath was presented to each guest as a pallette cleanser between courses. This was very unique and so beautiful! It added a nice touch, and the LED lights gave an awesome ambiance to the tables.

If you are looking for something special for the reception specifically, you could do one of those lighting packages, either your monogram on the dance floor, or starry lights on the walls. This adds a really nice touch to the "ambiance" of the whole evening too. I see you added chair covers, did you add a color sash to each chair as well? You could do red or silver... I really like this look, I think it makes for a beautiful package when you look at the table. Also, did you add any pin spotting to your tables? I LOVE the look of candles, and I think the more the better! Another good ambiance booster! ;) HTHs!!

Cosi Bella- What is pin spotting if you dont mind me asking?

I am trying to shy away from adding any additional food on to the reception.

Sunshine1-I thought about an action station at our cocktail hour, if I was to add one it would be the mashed potato bar but we are having mashed with our entree.

FIREFLY01-I Did A Video With Disney Videography It Came Out Awesome And Very Worth The Money!!!! That Would Fill Your Beo!!!!- How much was that?

Are You Doing A Staged Exit With Flower Petals??-Yup that was added too lol!

What About Your Vendor Meals???-Already taken care of and added into the BEO

disprincessatheart-a candy buffet where the guests take the candy with them as a favor? A great idea I will keep that in mind but I really dont want to spend $1,000 on candy (no offense to anyone that did that, its just not my thing)

Skylarr29-How about confetti canons for your last dance?-not really my thing but a great idea.

Cinderella Slipper dessert-it was included in our plated dinner.

The bridal breakfast sounds interesting what exactly is that? Can you do it in your hotel room? That may be an option

I am sorry ladies I feel like I am being rude and shooting down everyones ideas. I hope you understand!

Thanks!

Boston Bride,

Pin spotting is adding a bunch of "tea light" candles to your tables. If you like the look of candles, this adds a nice touch. We did this for my sis's wedding (not at disney). We bought boxes of those small tea lights in small glass holders and put like about 10 on each table. It adds a really nice touch, I thought it was so beautiful! Disney offers this candle package and they call it "pin spotting"... at least they used to, they may call it something different now! lol. But I'm sure your planner will know what you are talking about if you say pin spotting! ;)

Talk to your planner about doing a breakfast or brunch. I know we talked about it but I don't really remember details. I think you'd have to "rent" a space somewhere and have breakfast brought in, but it could be at the resort you'll be getting ready at, so no extra transportation needed.

Oh, and don't worry about some of the ideas not being for you - it's your wedding and we're all just throwing stuff out. Of course you're not going to be up for all of them!
