help for 3yr old at DW now - lost luggage!!!!

I'll be happy to help any way I can. I will PM you my phone number. If she is in a bind, have her give me a call. As long as I am available, I'd be happy to pick them up and run them over to a mall. Or, if they would rather not take time out from their vacation, I could do the shopping for them.

Feralpeg--That is so sweet of you!

Before you go over to DTD, I'd call to see what sizes they have. You also might want to see if you can find out what sizes the stores on the cruiseship carry.

I did find it difficult to find size 3T and even 4T for my kids at WDW this spring. They went from 2T or 24 months to little boys size 4, which are huge. We looked at the big stores at MK and Epcot, as well as some of the resorts. I almost had to buy my son a pair of pink sweatpants at Epcot because they didn't have anything in his size!

Make sure you save your receipts!

International Highway has so many stores I'm sure she can find clothes but as another poster said, order something online and have it shipped to the hotel, they can overnight it.

I hope they get this problem solved and he has clothes soon...

This brings up a point I just read about...when you pack put a few outfits for each person in each suitcase...incase the luggage gets lost...usually, when I pack, I fill a suitcase for each family member. I won't be doing this anymore!

Good luck and I hope they find the luggage...

I do this too!, even though my DD (almost 6) wants to pack her own luggage. After she finishes I rearrange things between hers and mine. I also do this with my mom. We've never lost luggage (knock wood) but just in case we are covered. (Literally!, LOL). I especially separate bathing suits, panties, and even shoes. I also carry 1 bathing suit and at least one pair of panties for each of us in one of our carryons. Going home, all bets are off, I just cram things in where ever they'll fit. I do try to keep dirty clothes separated from clean.

One hint I read a few years ago works really well for switching clothes around. I pack my DD outfits, 1 per Ziploc, before we leave home. Everything goes in the bag except for the shoes. Top, shorts, socks, and especially matching hair thingies. Saves alot of time in the a.m. Also saves room in the suitcase as you can squeeze the extra air out (like Space Bags).

Hope they find the luggage and have a great trip anyway.

53 days and counting!

Ditto! THere really are nice people here ;) wink wink too sweet!!! :flower:

AirFrance lost our luggage to Paris, we had to sit at the airport & file a claim (seriously, in the end, really not worth it :crazy2: )

I would take a cab to Walmart or place an overnight order online, check w/guest services at the hotel....hope they find some threads for that little one!!! :flower3:

Murphy's Law ~ as soon as they spend $$ getting some clothes for the little guy, the suitcase will show up!

Good luck!

any updates if they were able to get the child some more clothes. I would like to say thank you to FeralPeg for offereing to make a clothes run for the family. Your gift baskets are cute.

I'm pretty puzzled that the hotel is being so unhelpful. I worked at a resort in Vail for 3 years as an HR director. It was not uncommon for our staff to run out and buy a swimsuit or whatever a guest might have forgotten (and expense back to the hotel). I even drove some guests myself in my own vehicle (and I would bet their hotel has a company car) to get items they lost, forgot or needed - even groceries if they asked! I can't believe they're watching this poor little guy suffer and aren't jumping over themselves to help out? A stranger on a message board is willing, but the paid hotel staff isn't? I'm very put off and feel horrible for them.

I spoke with my daughter last night and suggested she go online and have some things overnighted. She was going to check with the hotel for online access. Today they were determined to have their full day at the Magic Kingdom and not let this get in the way of their plans for the day! I left a message for her with Feral Peg's offer and am waiting to hear back from her after their Magical Day. I have passed on all other suggestions also. THANK YOU!!!! :jumping1:

As she's planned this trip for a year, she has often spoken of this wonderful board! What a terrific group of people you all are!!! Thank you so much for your ideas and assistance.

I too thought of getting clothes from her house, but when you pack for a three year old to be gone three weeks you pack virtually everything they own!

She had packed so carefully. Every complete outfit in a ziplock bag, ready to go! She split things between Tink's suitcase and Squirts bag but they insisted that boys clothes could NOT be in a princess suitcase and girl's clothes could NOT be in a Buzz suitcase. Well, live and learn!!

They still are having a wonderful time. My 5 year old granddaughter was spoken to by Crush the Turtle. He made some great jokes and she was laughing so hard on the phone my daughter had to tell me what she said. Disney is a happy place.

Thank you again for all your help and support! I'll keep you updated.

Thanks for the update and WELCOME to the Dis too!! I've been wondering what ended up happening. I'm glad they aren't letting it spoil what your daughter worked so hard to plan. Can't wait to hear the next update.

You know, it's weird but I found the same type of thing although not quite as severe. I had forgotten one of my meds and really needed to find a place to get it filled and the front desk wasn't helpful at all in helping us find a place to get them replaced. I wondered if they aren't allowed to recommend anything off site, but then my DH said one of the staff told him that most of the people working there aren't from the area and don't know anything. But geez, wouldn't it be easier for them to find out?

Feral Peg, YOU ROCK! That is an incredible offer you made.

I've only recently discovered this board, and everybody is so nice, for the most part, ;-).

I've learned so much, it's just not funny! We are going in October and this will be the best vacation EVER! Yippeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

That's why I NEVER pack all of one person's clothes in one suitcase. I separate our clothes in case a piece of luggage is lost. I also ALWAYS carry on our bathing suits because we are a "hard to fit" family ;)

My daughter managed to find some swimsuits. Paired with some shirts, they pass for outfits. The swimsuits are working out really well because they dry quickly when she has to wash them at night! World of Disney at DTD was very helpful, but they still didn't have much selection for him. Disney admits toddler boys clothes are limited. And, Squirt is picky about his characters! He is very small for his age and would be much happier with the boys size clothes.

The airline says the bag is probably gone (stolen???). They will be compensating. They are having her buy necessities on a daily basis. She asked if the lost Peter Pan costume was a necessity. They said no. However, she convinced them that it is because he will throw a fit if his sister has her costume and he does not! The airline is buying a new costume. She also has travel insurance which covers lost baggage. So, after the trip she can file claims with the airline and travel insurance. Unfortunately, time and and hassle can't really be compensated.

I have not heard from her in a couple of days. She was hoping to get to the Business Center to order online and said she might call Feral Peg. (What an incredibly wonderful offer!!!!). They are not letting it keep them from enjoying the fun. They are having a magical time!!! :earsgirl:

Peg - you're the best!!

Snowball - Glad to hear they found some clothes/swimsuits. Keep us posted.

I do not have any new ideas. Just wanted to post to let Feral Peg know how wonderful she is and I am so gald the lost luggage is not ruiing thier vacation.

Just heard from my daughter. They changed hotels at Disney World. Their room was not ready at check in time and they had to wait. AND the baggage transfer people LOST A BAG!!!! :crazy2: Fortunately, it has now been located. :rolleyes2 However, they are again wasting valuable time waiting for the bag to be delivered so they can get cleaned up for dinner! She also wasted valuable time trying to call the airline with their new hotel. The system kept hanging up. I am now trying to make the call for her. Her frustration level is building. Please pray she can relax more and just "go with the flow." THANKS. The saga continues.......
