Hoping a few of you have some suggestions. There are usually four of us that go to Disney each January, Me, Hubby, 14 year old son, and my 25 year old brother. My husbands 16 year old god-daughter just moved in with us to try and get herself back on track. Anyways, she has never been anywhere, so this will be her first time to Disney :wizard:

We usually stay at CBR, We LOVE It there. The close parking to the rooms, the atmosphere, etc. (Though last year we did stay at OKW in a studio by renting DVC points, but we did not really like it)

We were thinking about staying off property this year since AKV and such which would sleep five is a little to expensive, but then we will be missing out on EMH and the disney experience of not staying on grounds. (Plus, we are pin traders, and love going resort hopping to pin trade)

Looking on the disney site, it says we could stay at POR, but would that sleep five??

I know getting two rooms at a value would be an option, but the values are a little to hectic and busy for us. I also know the Music Value has a few studios, but they are booked when we are going. (Which is Jan. 11th to Jan. 21st)

Any suggestions anyone??

Thanks!:grouphug:

no, POR will not work for you--the 5th bed is a small trundle for kids under 10. With your ages, you really need 2 rooms, or a condo. Assuming the family suite at ASMu is booked, and Ft. Wilderness cabins are too much $$, I would either get 2 rooms at value (they really are super fun) or stay off-site, if budget is an issue. Teens need their space. You can still pin trade all you want---just go to any resort and eat at their restaurant (you can get a 3 hr parking pass at security gate if you are dining at resort), hop on the monorail before/after and go pin trade.
Also, with the $$ you save, treat everyone to TS at one of the resort---or even a silly character meal--even teens like Chef Mickeys--plus, it's all you can eat buffet!
You can also take any resort bus/boat/monorail during the day, or after being at the parks to a resort for a break to pin trade.
If you get to park at rope drop and park hop over to parks with later evening hours, I don't think you will miss EMH--we have never used it at all--we don't get up early enough and are too tired by evening.

Okay, it has been a few years but we did have 5 in a room at POR. I also checked the Disney site and if you put in your parties info and the 'teens' ages it will list resorts avail to you. They put a message in red if your party exceeds the room limit. The site lists POR as avail for your party but I would call and check. IMO staying on-site makes a huge difference in your vacation. Especially traveling with teens. The pools, arcade and recreation avail at Disney resorts is great for teens. I know no place is 'safe' anymore, but I feel my kids have more freedom at Disney than if I was staying off-property. Again that's just my opinion.

I would really suggest two rooms at Pop or the All Stars. We're going Jan 16th -- 23rd so we'll be there around the same time as you. There are 6 of us and we're doing two rooms at Pop Century. For the 7 nights our average AAA rate per night per room is something like $75 each including taxes. That's less than one room at a moderate and you will have two bathrooms. You can always book the AAA rate and then check back on these boards for any better rate if one comes out.

Ft Wilderness cabins will work for you.

I would check and see if you can get a good rate at the Dolphin. It's rooms do sleep 5, and the location is right in the middle of the Epcot area. I many rooms, you can have Epcot, Boardwalk, or MGM views. The dolphin is also a deluxe. Some say that it feels not "Disney" enough, but I have to disagree! Try checking on the Swan and Dolphin website to see if you qualify for any discounts. They sometimes run specials, too.

Good luck!

The Contemporary Wing Rooms are usually a little less expensive than the tower rooms and should sleep 5 with two queen beds and one day bed.

There are a few options you have to ensure that you get all the Disney magic possible! You could rent two All Star rooms, like you suggested. You could stay at the suites at All Star Movies. I do not know what your budget is but if you stay at a Deluxe resort most of them sleep five. Well I know that the GF and The Yacht Club do. We have done so in both rooms, they are very comfy and have a lot of room. We have stayed at concierge at both and love them! When we stay there we actually save a lot of money on food and drinks because we can make concierge our breakfast, lunch or dinner, and the occ. dessert and adult beverage! Good luck but no matter what you choose I think your best bet is to stay on property because you do get the EMH's and all the magic! :goodvibes

Thanks Everyone! I think we will have to go with either two rooms at the value... Otherwise my hubby was looking at Buena Vista Suites. I just can not imagine staying anywhere but on Disney Grounds!! I just hate the busy atmoshpere of the values. I love CBR because it was so quiet and relaxing. :cutie:

I vote for the joining rooms at POP. That is what we are doing in January and have done it many times in the past. It really works out great for us. Plus you have 2 bathrooms if you really need it!

If you opt to stay offsite, you should definitely consider a condo rental instead of Buena Vista Suites or any hotel. A couple of years ago our family of five rented a 3 bedroom 2 bath condo at Windsor Palms for a week for $560.00. It was clean, comfortably furnished, spacious, and nearby! We found it on VRBO.com

Well, lets see how I can help here!!
I have a family of 5 abd it really is a challenge to find good hotels at a good price.:sad2:
Last years we booked two room at All Star Sports and it was really fun!!!It's a GREAT resort!!!:thumbsup2 The kid in the family had at the time 13, 15 and 10.The great thing about booking two rooms is the prvacy that you get.Although the room is not small it's much easier to get everyone ready with two baths and everything.;)
We'll be going back to Disney in january 12,stay one night in the POR, go to the 4 nights disney cruise, and the stay at disney until the 25th. The second part of the trip we'll be spliting the stay with 4 days in the yatch club and 4 days with two rooms in the pop.
We are very excited bout the resorts we chose and with everything that we read we are pretty sure that they will fit for our family.:woohoo:
