Help! EE Day but Staying Off-Site

One of the days of our stay will be spent next Saturday at MGM on an early entry day due to a family commitment. We are staying off-site for the first time. Some questions: 1). Do they check to see if you are staying on-site? If so, how do they check? If one family in our group of 4 families is staying on-site, can we all get in? 2). Should we still arrive 30-45 minutes before the scheduled park opening? It must be so hard to watch the on-site people get in when you can't!!

We leave tomorrow!!

There have been many reports of them checking resort id's on EE days. You would all have to show your resort ID.

Parks open at their scheduled times not early like they used to.

Why go early and chance not getting in? Use that time for a breakfast or sleep in.

Every person in your party must have a resort ID card for EE (except under age 3). Do they check each person in the party to see if they are staying on site? I don't know, but EE is a perk for onsite guests only.

Do you want to chance standing around in Florida heat until the park opens? Last time we were there, they checked resort ID's at MGM. They checked everyone.

we just returned from WDW....went to MK on EEday....they didn't check our resort ID's........ --thought that was a perk to staying onsite--my dh seems to think they don't open the parking lots (just bus, boat, monorail).....i asked him "what if you stay onsite and want to drive yourself?" he said THEN they might check resort ID..... i dunno :confused3 any thoughts?

That is a perk of an on-site guest. You want the perk? Then pay the big bucks....:p only joshing.

I have no problem giving up that perk this time for an off-site condo. It's just how it goes sometimes. :)

Like others said.. this is a perk for on-site guests. I'd certainly be upset if I paid a lot of money to stay on-site and they were letting in off-site guests. Call me mean.. but I worked hard to save and want to enjoy all the benefits.. all by my selfish-self :)

they have checked room keys every time i've been to ee at mgm ::yes:: i have seen people turned away for not having a room key.

this last trip in june we didn't make it over to EE until about 8:45am...they had a seperate turnstile for resort guests and regular guests were held back at the other turnstiles.

we're going to mgm next year...hope this is the case......at MK EE, they didn't have separate anything....everyone just "horded" at the entrance waiting for rope drop! maybe some off-siters got in? dunno??

At MK they assume most resort guests are taking WDW transportation so they do not check IDs at the MK gates.

They DO check them to get on the monorail from the TTC. Therefore all offsite guests at the MK will have thier IDs checked.

We have had our resort ID checked everywhere including the MK. They even checked DS when he was a little younger and standing between DH & I.
They will check, as well they should. As others have said I could stay a lot cheaper off site but are willing to pay for the perks.
Plan to arrive a little before 9.

I believe they do not open the express monorail until 8:30am...and they check for id's at TTC as DaveO said, so I do not know how that makes you feel better b/c the ID's are checked at some point. Once the rope drops at the other parks though--I know they check IDs b/c I've had to wait in line watching resort guests mozy on in to MGM. Let's face it, Disney isn't ignorant of what is going on. It is a privelidge for resort guests and it could be taken away if it is abused. They've already done away with it once (not related to abuse)--so we know they can take it away any time they want to do so.

Good luck with your attempt at sneaking into EE. If your conscious allows it--more power to you! Only you know that what you are doing is in violation of the rules--much the same as those who "carry" their "under 3-year old" who is nearly 4 through the turnstiles. When the perk is removed b/c of too many sneakers--then that will be a shame.

Just be advised--that though you may successfully sneak into MGM--you might have a problem "sneaking" into the parking lot--b/c it may not open at 7:30am to give you time to park and gather with the rest of the "guests" by the time of the 8am opening. Your family may wait for you--but give it too long after 8am, and they'll be looking for your room card. They may let those with a resort parking pass through into the parking lot early--but without one you may be out of luck. Just FYI--not trying to be a smarty pants!

Just an FYI....it wasn't the OP who stated that checking ID's at the monorail made her feel better. It was someone who said they didn't check ID's at MK the morning she was there for EE. She was in fact a resort guest at that time.

Thanks sammy!

I misread that--just irks my feathers when others try to get around any system.

If the person felt better about ID checking at TTC--then kudo's....if they felt better about no ID checking at MK as an affirmation to try sneaking in early--then shame on them!

My apologies for offense...

Just want OP to know that the parking lot may not be open even if in an ideal situation you could manage to make it into early to MGM park without the ID checks.

that was me. we stayed at ASMo and went to MK for EE...nobody checked any ID of ours at anytime. i guess they assume if you arrive by boat, monorail or bus you are a resort guest. that's what i didn't understand. i was totally prepared to show our room key for guest ID, but nobody asked....not even security who searched our bags on the way in. i dunno....i was there "legally" for EE and that's all i needed to know!!

GOOD for you Bubba's Mom!!!

I just got ahead of myself and apparently merge everyone in my head and gotta be more careful about my responses.

I remember coming as a day guest and they corral all of us just behind the ticket booths and the CMs did not open the monorail gate until 8:30am. I think you can somehow show your resort ID to get through if you need to and then you just hop on the resort monorail as the first Express monorail arrives just when the gate is opened.

I stay off site and would never consider trying to get in...reverse logic what if you are caught, it is fraud and you could be evicted for the day from the parks. Not worth it, sleep in, eat a later breakfast and join your on site relatives when the gates open. They pay a large amount of money to stay onsite they should get something more for it, considering it is often three times what i pay for a hotel room..If you really want to do EE, maybe you can use a discount code and get an onsite room for the night at a value resort...just my two cents.
