Help ease my fears! Flying with 1 year old...

Just to clarify (thanks for calling me names) I NEVER said I don't strap my kids in, I said I don't agree that they need to be strapped in. Big difference.
Back to the airplane issue!

I just read the post that these lapbelts for kids are not allowed on US planes.... I wonder why? However I did bring my now 2 year old to Disney in April this year and was actually more concerned about his safety as it took less than 2 seconds for him to figure out how to undo the seat belt... To the point where we was cackling with laughter thinking it was a game. And me in my not so happy telling him he had to wear it, boy that sure got old quick I can tell you!

From what I can gather from information on the internet it has something to do with an increased chance of a ruptured spleen if in an accident. So the FAA banned it, now obviously other countries, have other research so it is just a case of what research you are working from. Personally I prefer the lapbelt.

My concern is also with our 2.5 year old and the seatbelt, Virgin apparently have a new seat for the little ones with a 5 point harness so hopefully they have one available as it is first come first served.

I've flown with both of my babies many times without seats, and have never had a problem. Niether one them have ever been injured, and my 17 month old will be flying in my lap again a week from today. I prefer to not be attacked by the ethincal police, so please understand that I just wanted to let the poster hear my experience.
