I know there are other threads out there about Dyson vacuum cleaners and I posted a question once, but didn't get any response.
Does anyone who owns a Dyson vacuum cleaner notice that sometimes it makes a weird, SCARY, loud noise? Mine did it ever since it was brand new, it seems to happen when I get close to a wall or something. Is it suppose to do this?????????????
My DD is afraid to use the vacuum!!!
TIA !!!

Call the 1-800 number in your manual. The Dyson folks are the most friendly, helpful people I've ever encountered over the phone.
then let us know what the heck was making the noise!

Oh yes...that scary noise!! Mine does that periodically and I really don't know why...I just put it up to the idle position and then down again and it is fine. Maybe I will email Dyson to see about it. And it usually happens when you go from carpet "up" to a hard surface area...or against a wall like you said.
I will let you know what I find out

I don't feel like calling at the moment though since I just got up

Let me know if you do and what you find out....

Thanks

THANK YOU!!!!!
I'm all set!!!!!! First of all, they are extremely helpful and kind over the phone. The customer service woman walked me through step by step. The problem is that there is too much suction. So, she instructed me step by step to remove a very thin gasket (I think that's what she called it) and she said that will help. She seemed to be very familiar with the problem. I think it is going to help!
Thanks for the phone number and it was good to know someone knew what "SCARY" noise I was talking about!

Speaking of Dyson...

are all of their vacuum lines good? Or is one better than the other?

I posted this same thing on another Dyson thread. I was really surprised no one had ever mentioned before.
Yep, definitely the suction too strong. I was all ready to send it back but my DH called the number and could not stop commenting on how nice they were too. Anyway, we removed some thing inside and it only periodically makes that noise, and yes, it scares me to death every time it does.
I am OK on the carpet but we also have a lot of rugs since we have hardwood floors and that is when it happens the most.
