Help! Do I have a virus?

My internet keeps going down. I can be Dising right along, and all of a sudden, all of my windows close. It did this to me about 6 times yesterday..

Is this a virus/worm, and is there a patch? Thanks for the help! I'm up and running for now..how long I have no idea!

Well, it sounds like you caught something. It doesn't seem like it has to do with the internet, though, but with your computer itself. Did you run an anti-virus program?

Without any more info, maybe yes, maybe no.

1. is your internet actually down? or do you just mean you can't surf (because your windows have closed)? For example, can you run another program (the thing that comes to mind is something like windows media player or some other media player program) that will connect to the internet? Do you see an icon on the bottom of your windows bar that would indicate that you have a connection? When you click on it , does it say you're connected?

2. Do you have an antivirus program? Open it and see if it is giving you any warnings. If you don't have it, get one.

3. Get a spyware program and run it and see if you get anything.

4. Get a different browser (like Mozilla Firefox) and try using it and see if you can connect without issues. If this works, just stick with this browser. Its better than IE anyway, and most likely your problem is that IE is corrupt or messed up.

Thanks for responding, you guys! I had to run out for awhile, now I am back and I'm going to carefully go through your posts/suggestions and see what happens. I may be back for more help!
