Ok, have been to WDW a few times but this Dec. we are having about 15 family memebers meet for a week. I know it will be impossible to have everyone doing the same thing all the time (meals, rides). I would like to be able to get us all together for one meal. Any suggestions? There will only be 2 kids the rest are adults. Half of the party have NEVER been to WDW. I also want to keep budget in mind. Some are on more of a budget than others. Thanks, I get the best info from you guys. pixiedust:

I have seen large family groups having a blast at the HDDR. If that is not in the budget, I would consider Ohanna's or rainforest cafe. I really think with a week, I would plan more that one night to all eat together. EVen if you all go your own ways during the day, it should not be too hard to get together to eat at night.

call the main reservation number and make your plans throught the magical gatherings agents. They are experts and very good at it. There is a breakfast at Tony's that is ONLY for large parties so they are very good at putting you all together. The breakfast is less expensive than the dinners they offer for large parties. There is also a fireworks criuise with a pirate and a dessert buffet. Call the main number and press one for a party of 8 or more people. These are the top agents and very experienced. We have traveled with large groups several times and they have always met my needs.

I've seen large crowds at O'Hanas. They always look like they are having a BLAST!!

I would recommend Boma's at Animal Kingdom Lodge. It is our all time favorite resturant. It is Buffet style. No waiting for food. The food is very good and they have something for even the pickiest eater (Chicken strips, spaghetti and really yummie prime rib) plus lots of good African food for some one who likes to try different things. The space is very large so the wouldn't have a problem seating that many. :stir:

If your family is staying in a villa onsite or condo offsite I would suggest getting a Honeybaked Ham, some croissants, bags of lettuce etc..... so everyone can help themselves and not have to be on the same schedule. There are so many options when going with a large group.

Where are all of you staying?

from a Magical Gathering. We were a group of 16 people and had a few meals together. We had dinner in Epcot at the Restaraunt Akerhus Princess Storybook dinner, which is a character meal with the princesses and Norwegian food. We sat at 2 separate tables but they were next to each other. We also ate lunch at the Cape May Cafe in the Beach Club and we were able to sit together there. I would definately recomend eating there - great atmosphere and great buffet (New England Style Clambake). The tables are covered with paper so the kids can write on the tables. The restaraunt is very nice - you wouldn't think it is as kid friendly as it is. We also had a character breakfast at 'Ohanas in the Polynesian and that was a big hit! We were able to site together at one big table. The food was great and the characters were great. We are a pretty loud and rowdy group, so this was perfect for us. There is a parade with the characters and kids so if you want something not loud, this is not for you. We also did the Safari Celebration Dinner only offered through a Magical Gathering. The safari is the same safari as you would do as a ride, but then you have a great sit down dinner in the Tusker House. They serve family style food and a big variety of salmon, chicken, prime rib and assorted sides. I hope this helps!

I would LOVE more info on the safari and dinner. That would be amazing. What is the price of something like that? The only 2 kids in the group are my DD who will be 9 just 4 days after our trip. She is not a "Princesss" girl. And my cousin who will be 7. He has never been to WDW. We are all staying at Saratoga Springs. We have stayed there before and loved it, so I am excited. Thanks for the ideas. Keep them coming.

Also a Grand Gathering here. :thumbsup2 We have 16 going in June, from 1yo - 62yo. We're doing the GG Fireworks Voyage, and a dinner at 50s PT, and a dinner (buffet) at Chef Mickey's. A small group of us (4) are doing a lunch at CRT. I'm hoping ALL is fun! :woohoo:

I think Liberty Tavern is a great idea. There are characters and the meal is really good. When we were there, there were many tables of large groups all around. You are right in the Kingdom too.
Have fun!

There are 4 differnt grand gathering events. I have done them all several times and they are pricey, but have been worth it. The rule is that you have to be on property to book these events and at least 8 members of your party have to go. The first is the Good Morning Gathering at Tony's Town Square in the Magic Kingdom The cost is 11.99 for children and 24.99 for adults. It is a character breakfast and is only for parties of 8 or more. The characters include Chip, Dale, Tony, Minnie, Goofy, pLuto and a visit with Mickey at the end.
The second is the Safari Celebration at Animal Kingdom. The price is 19.99 for children and 59.99 for adults. You meet at the Bird Show and then they wlk you to the safari. It is after the park is closed so there is no one else and some photo ops of the empty park! You take the same safari ride but without the "show". It is also very slowed down and they tell you a lot of things about how the park was built, etc. After the safari you go to Tusker House for Family style dinner and some entertainment with musicians. There are also a couple of characters (they change who) and some opportunities to touch/see up close some small animals like a giant spider.
The third is the Msagical Fireworks Voyage out of the Contemporary. The cost is 14.99 for kids and 32.99 for adults. You meet out by the dock (if it is raining you meet inside) where they have a huge dessert buffet for you. While you are there Captain Hook and Mr. Smee show up. You get plenty of time with them. There are then two other pirates that come and the whole group (not yours) is divided into two boats. The pirates take you out into the Lagoon and you first see the electric water parade. They are singing and dancing with you to entertain during the wait. They also ask lots of trivia espescially around the Pirates of the Carribean Movie. They give little prizes to the kids for that. Then you get a great view of Wishes with the music piped in. It is far away but you can see everything. At the end they take you back to the dock where Peter Pan is waiting for you. Again, he spends plenty of time with you. I always get to the end of the line though so I can take as many pics as I want!
The final Grand Gathering event is the International Dinner and Illuminations Viewing at Epcot. You meet at the old Horizons building and they have a dinner with a lot of different cuisine from around the world. They also have chicken strips for the pickier eaters. There is a show while you eat and at the end Minnie and Goofy come out and dance with all of the kids. It is really fun! There are also lots of desserts here! You are then escorted to a private viewing spot for Illuminations. The cost for this was 19.99 and 59.99

All of these include a pin about the event. These prices were from last year so they may have changed. They seem expensive but many include dinner and they all have the free pin. Plus it is an opportunity to do something really differrent. The character time and shows are much better than anywhere else. You spend more time than even at a regular character meal because the participation is limited. You can also buy Grand Gathering T-Shirts online at the Disneyworld site. Hope this helps.
