Help! Dining in Hollywood Studios

I am in need of booking lunch at HS. I am trying to decide between Sci-fi and 50s PTC. Normally, it would be 50's hands down, but I've heard several negative things recently. I know Sci-fi's food isn't great, but the atmosphere is kind of neat. I will be dining with my DH and DGDs 9 and 4.

I have to be honest. We have never eaten at the 50's primetime. My family is not the type to sing to another family or stand in the corner. We love a good time (whispering canyon), but not to be the center of attention.

On the other hand, we LOVE the SciFi. The burgers are great and so is the artichoke Dip. We have had the ribs, the chilli, the caesar salad, and the onion rings. All of those things were good not great. Lets put it this way we ate everything. Were else could you eat in a car, in the dark, while watching old movie clips!!! Besides, its one of the best places to treat the kids the the ice cubes that light up since its so dark!!!

We ate at 50s Prime Time last month, and didn't have a problem. It was the same solid, home-cooked style food that we'd had the previous year.

(And we didn't have to stand in a corner or sing to another table. But we did have to keep our elbows off our own table! )

That said, we also dined at Sci-Fi and found it to be acceptable as well. It's not somewhere we'd return to frequently, but by using the standard DISers' advice not to order anything fancy, we were able to have a decent meal and enjoy the show elements of eating there.

If you've never done Sci-Fi and you're willing to eat basically CS level food for the price of a TS restaurant, then I'd recommend trying it. Otherwise, I'd stick witih 50s Prime Time.
