Hi All, I am just coming here because the DIS has been so helpful in helping me plan my trips so I thought I could turn here for some serious camera help. I have only used Kodak digital cameras but I am slowly finding out that they don't seem to be good cameras, that is what people at Best Buy and Circuit City are telling me and from my recent experience on my trip. I had purchased a Kodak V603, it was from Amazon so a little used but in good shape, when I went to DLR in March, it did fairly good on the outside shots, however the inside shots were horrible, the faces were really bright white and a lot of red eye. Sometimes I would even take a photo inside of food or something and the LCD screen would just be white. Ugh!!! Needless to say it was not a good experience. And I couldn't even take night shots, it was awful. However I do have to give it credit with the outdoor shots and also in the rides, it did fairly well.

Now my question is, I don't know a whole lot about digital cameras, I know some but not a whole lot. So I stopped by Circuit City tonight and Best Buy, one store recomended the Canon A590 and another one recomended the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS3G. So my question is, which one do you recomend. I would like one that does good with indoor/outdoor shots without a whole lot of changing involved and also one that will give me good night time and day time shots. So which one do you all recomended. Which one is easier to use too. Or do you recomend a different type, I am up for advice. Thank you so much. I am looking to spend about $200.

Thanks So Much!!!:goodvibes

Just thought I would bump, does anyone have any advice. Thank you so much. :goodvibes

Honestly, given your stated budget of $200, finding a camera that will handle low-light situations is going to be a problem. The only type camera that will do that is a dSLR, which has a larger sensor and is beyond your budget.

Point and Shoot digital cameras all have much smaller sensors, which is why they do not do well in low-light situations, at least w/o flash, which is, I assume, your objective. There are, however, some very good $200 PnS cameras out there that will take wonderful pictures in good lighting.

I suggest you read some reviews of various cameras in your budget, paying close attention to the sample images at high ISO (400+) to see what kinds of results you can realistically expect.

Some good review sites are:

Hope that is helpful.
