We are traveling to WDW in August with my sister who is an insulin dependant diabetic. The insulin has to be kept cold but we don't want to have to return to the campgrounds where we are staying every evening before dinner. Anyone else have to deal with this? Does anyone have some information or strategies you can offer ?

We too are going in august. But anywas I and my grandpa are dibetic he has insulin and i have pills. we bought him a great new thing it is a insulin cooler it is small and you take it any where i forget the name but maybe you could either ask your dr or pharmacy or do a search on yahoo or google. Also we bought him a fanny pack cooler. It's a cooler inside of a fanny pack again i don't know what the name is but i will see him later today and ask. Also my mom has ms and we carry a cooler soemtimes inside a bookbag with an ice pack thing that you freeze in the hotel firdge. Hope this helps and hope you find something.

The nurse station at the park will keep the insulin in the fridge for your sister and she can return there to pick it up/take her shot. There are also many types of cooler packs for insulin whether she uses the vials or the pens. I've seen them sold online at places that provide supplies for diabetics and you might be able to find some at your local pharmacy too.

If you do a search on these boards for diabetes or diabetic you will also find lots more information on dining and the like.

Have fun!

The fanny pack coolers are great. My Dad was a diabetic, and he always carried on with him.

We just carry a soft side cooler with us and if we need insulin we load up a needle and carry it with us in the cooler....seems to work just fine for us..

They Baby center and First Aid station is WONDERFUL!

If you have little ones and breast feed, or have a huge messy cleanup of the sninky kind, they are a great retreat.

They sell packages with a diaper, wipes and diaper rash cream for $5 I think as well as baby food and spoons. They have really nice quiet rooms with a TV and rocking chair for breastfeeding or pumping. They are in each of the parks.

These people do restaurant reviews and I believe at least one of them is diabetic. They always make arrangements 24 hrs in advance for a sugarfree dessert item. They have pictures too.

I hope this helps as you get ready for a great trip!

I apologize for the double post. Don't know how I did that! I tried to delete the second one but it wouldn't let me.

OOPS again!
Apparently It did let me delete that second one. I'll stop touching my keyboard now!

Check on the DISabilities board, lots of people over there to help you! Probably a quick check of the recent threads would answer most of your questions.

hi i ask my grandpa and the little one i was talking about is called babys first year my mom found it in a baby section and it keeps it cool. The fanny pack i was talking about my mom bought for him from a pharmacy and she special ordered it she said to check with your pharmacy and they should be able to order one for you.
