My DH bought new shoes because his old ones had disintegrated. The new ones he wore today for the first time. He took off his shoes and his feet are horrible. I want to leave the room. Is there anything I can do to the shoes so his actual feet won't be unbearable when he takes them off?

You can put baking soda in a coffee filter and rubber-band it shut and slide them into his shoes when he's not wearing them -- they'll absorb odors. But if it's truly a problem with the shoes and not just a stinky-feet thing, I'd take them back.

I've noticed if DH and DS wear anything that isn't real leather, even partially, they have more foot odor. DSIL complains about it often with her family and swears it's a family sweaty foot thing. She'll only buy 100% leather shoes, even sandals, for just that reason.

Are the new shoes made from man-made materials by chance? That could be your problem. Newspaper, a dr scholl's insert, or baking soda might help with the odor when the shoes are off but I'd probably be considering returning them as well if the problem persists for several days.

I don't think I have the heart to return smelly shoes!
They are mostly man made, like a low hiking boot. DH says they're very comfy and he really likes them. I think I'll get some of the odor eater inserts and I'll toss baking soda in them when he's not wearing them. He's the kind of guy who wears shoes all the time, and the same pair until they disintegrate. Sigh. Men.

I purchased a pair of leather shoes once and that happened to me. No matter what I did my feet stank whenever I wore them which was only a few times. I would take them back because they aren't going to get better.

Put them in the freezer in a zip lock bag at night. It kills the bacteria that grow inside from the warmth of the feet. This will stop the smell. Its possible someone with dirty feet tried them on in the store, spreading the bacteria into the shoe. Its gross but can happen. When your hubby wears them he makes a nice warm moist environment for the bacteria to grow and create waste which smells. So think Dry and Cool, to eliminate odor.

i have crocs with fur that smell terrible when they get wet i put dryer sheets inside over night it worked
