I sent DH to DD's school with reminder notes about RSVPing for her party. Instead of putting them in her class' cubbies, he put them in the other class' cubbies. Now, I have all these parents leaving me messages at home saying they're coming, but need directions!! These are 2 and 3 year olds and DD is turning 5 There is a child in that class, with DD's name, so I"m sure they think it's that girl, not DD.

What am I going to do?

Ohhhhhhhh, man that is a tough situation. I would just make a letter stating the mix up. If you want the little kids kids there then I guess you say the invitation is still open to them, but if you don't then just say it is only for the 5 yr olds.

Wow - that was a royal screw-up! (No offense to your poor DH!!)

I would probably do want the poster in front of me suggested.

I am really at a loss as that's never happened to me or anyone that I know.
Sorry.

I would put another note in everyone's cubby explaining the mix up and apologizing for the mistake, and then YOU go ot the class an make sure the notes are placed into the proper cubbies.

And never let DH forget this!!! ;)

Sorry but this was funny---

I would also do what the others have suggested.

Oh no! I guess I would just put another note in the cubbies stating that the RSVP notes were accidentally left in the wrong class' cubbies. Tell them you are truly sorry about the mix up, and make sure they know that it is NOT for the other girl with the same name. I would also call everyone who has RSVP'd from that class to explain the mixup. Just admit it was an honest mistake and you hope they understand.

Also, don't forget to make up more RSVP notes to put into the correct class' cubbies!!

I think the previous posters have the right idea. I just would like to add, if you decide against inviting the younger kids, maybe include a small sweet for the kids, like a small pack of gummy lifesavers or something, so the little ones hopefully won't be too disappointed.

You could take your party to Chucky Cheese and leave the DH home to tend to the 3 year olds!!! :rotfl2:

This just goes to show ya what happens when you send a man in to do what a woman would have done right!! Why wouldn't Dh have asked which cubbies were the right ones?

The better question is why wouldn't DH have put them in the cubbies surrounding DD's? Instead of the one's across the hallway? Why not ask DD, she knows everyone's name in her class. She could have done it right. Grrr.... So far, I have 7 two- to three-year olds showing up and only one 5-year old. Grrr...

I called the school and left a message, asking that any remaining reminders be taked out of the cubbies. I'll put new notes in when I pick up the kids today.

I think after reading these threads I might never have kids or at least they wont be having bday parties unless I just send out e-vites!

Ah, but in this case it was the husband who was the problem!

Every mom will understand this was clearly a Dad's mistake. I have no advice but to call these folks and blame it on the husband.

I like this idea! :rotfl2:

I think you should make a batch of cupcakes and leave it in the little ones' cubbies. :)

Men never ask for directions - why would he ask if those were the right cubbies?? ;)

Now, I'm wondering...DH was in charge of distributing the original invites. While those all had names on them, I wonder if he's the reason I've gotten only two calls from DD's class (a stopped clock is right twice a day, isn't it)? :confused3

O NO! I hope you never let him do anything again! :rotfl2: :rotfl: :earseek:
