DH injured his knee last week and re-injured it yesterday (possible torn ligament/cartilage)! He is limping around!! WE leave in 2 days for a long weekend. We are staying at HRH and was wondering if we should request a room close to the elevators and how big is the hotel!!

It is going to be hard to walk around the parks for 3 days but we plan to take it slow and we will be watching DD in her cheerleading competiton so he can sit for a while!!

Any suggestions.............

This is a no-brainer......get a wheelchair or better yet, rent a scooter. Otherwise he will be in pain and won't enjoy the trip as much. I got bad blisters on my feet on my first day in orlando, and renting a scooter was a Godsend! Hope he heals fast :)

I would suggest that also maepartner, but unfortunately DH would never do it!!! That is the one thing about him that gets me so mad!! He would rather limp then take a scooter or wheelchair!!! MEN!!!

Well, that's a bummer. If he won't go for the scooter, split up and set up meeting times. I'm sure he'll find himself right at home in the bar while you and DD go on the rides.
I'll be there the same days as you. Looks like I might be able to spot you. At IOA there's one near the front of the park just before Suess Landing next to the bathrooms. And there's a bar in the back of the park next to Deuling Dragons.

Rosemary,

You've got to try to talk your DH into a scooter--the parks are just too big to try to limp around for days. My DH had foot surgery
just before Christmas and we were at USF/IOA the second week
in January and rented a scooter from a great company called Walker Mobility (Website: www.walkermobility.com). Daily rates
are the same as renting an ECV at the parks but with the convenience of having it delivered to your hotel. This way he
won't have to walk to and from the parks. We took the scooter
on the boat to RPR and right on several of the attractions. In
short, they're not just for senior citizens. We've seen several
younger people with sports injuries, etc. using them in the parks.
Extra bonus: When the little ones get tired of walking, which
they will, they can sit on dad's lap and steer. (You're not
supposed to do this but who's to tell?) At least check out the
website and see if you can convince your husband that it's just
not worth the pain, inconvenience and risk of further injury.

Good luck with convincing him.

I'm willing to bet after one day of limping that scooter is going to look VERY good!

I am also too proud to use one but I was with maepartner and her sister when they had their's and I couldn't believe how much fun they are and how easy they are to maneuver. I will never be too proud again!
