Help!! We had a reservation for 50s prime time at 7:50PM for a 9:00PM Star Wars fireworks show. A dessert party opening came up and we booked 3 for that thinking that, this is the only way we will get good viewing. Had to cancel the restaurant. Should we have done this?

The dessert party is expensive but there is or is not any apparent non-desert food? If we would have taken the restauarant (or got an earlier reservation), are we out of luck for the viewing?

The dessert party feels pretty expensive for dessert only? Thoughts?

There are cheeses, flat bread with hummus and bean dip, we ate so much that was non dessert plus lots of dessert. Fully got a meal out of it.

Also, for those responding, if we went the restaurant then viewing without dessert party, how soon do we need to be on the boulevard in advance to see a reasonable show?

With all respect to those responding, we just don't love sweets, and fruity cocktails aren't our thing either. Are the non-dessert apps, heavy? Or is it vegetables, fruits, flatbreads?

For a 9PM show, you really need to be finding a spot no later than 8:15.

They have beer and wine, not just the specialty cocktails. The non-desserts include fruit, hummus, olives, cheese.
