Hi,
Out of these 3 choices:

Candy Cane Inn ( we'd need a rollaway )
Holiday Inn Express- Suite
Desert Inn and Suites- Parlor Suite

Which would you choose? Candy Cane seems to get a lot of positive reviews, but I'm wondering if the room would be too cramped with a rollaway in it. Also, it is really close to the parks! And the free breakfast starts early.

Desert Inn is SUPER close, but gets some pretty bad reviews. How bad are the beds there? Is it clean?
There are some scary reviews on TripAdvisor though. =/

Holiday Inn Express sounds pretty nice, but it is the farthest away. Reviews seem fairly positive.

We are 3 adults, one child. I would appreciate any advice!

Thanks!

Hi,

Candy Cane. We've done a rollaway in a premium room and it is ok. Premium rooms are pretty good sized.

Candy Cane as well. It will be tight but if your can accept that, it will be workable.

If the prices are close, I'd go with Candy Cane, I've never stayed there, but it consistently gets great reviews here. I love the location of Desert Inn & Suites. It has always been clean for us, the breakfast starts late for 8:00 opening, though (7:30 - we grab milk and danish on our walk to the park). We book early and generally get a great rate, but see how booking now could make the other hotels in contention price-wise.

I can only speak to DIS. Have not stayed at the others. For us DIS has always been clean. Breakfast is enough to get us started (though it doesn't start til 7:30 I think) and the rooms are pretty big. Its nice to have the extra space to leave our strollers and other things in. The walk can't be beat. Oh and beds are firm but not uncomfortable.

I've heard great things about CCI though but we've never tried it cause the rates have never been close to the rates we were getting at DIS. If I could get the same rates I might give CCI a try.

I wouldn't expect the rates to be the same. Like I have said before, my kids LOVE staying at the Candy Cane. When they are staying on mom's dime, it is one of their top choices (Residence Inn/Candy Cane/Fairfield). However, when it comes time that they are paying (sibling trips happen once or twice a year) they stay at DIS/Anaheim Plaza because that is what is in their budget. The 2 motels are very different, from parking to the breakfast to the customer service to even the pool. I have stayed at both. If I am vacationing or wanting some relaxation time, I personally prefer Candy Cane. But if I was having to do a minimal budget trip or just planning on storming the park with very minimal time in the room, I would use DIS.

We just stayed at DIS end of Nov-first of Dec. Got a Suite. Rooms very clean, the walk to the parks is the best. I had 3 kids with me. Ages 14 to 22 and none of them complained about the beds being too hard. I love a soft bed and they were on the firm side, but other than that I have no problem with DIS. I have already reserved a room for later this year for another trip. :thumbsup2

Another vote for DIS. We were there again last week and have no complaints. :thumbsup2

Another vote for DIS. We were there last June and really liked it. The location can't be beat. Matter of fact, we are going to be staying there again for our upcoming Spring Break trip.

So it looks like we are mostly considering the Candy Cane, due to price. I checked with Carousel, and it was more expensive. Candy Cane seems to be really popular online!

Does anyone know if the 2 queen deluxe room (308 sq. feet) would be too cramped with a rollaway in it?

Thanks for the help!

We like DIS...rates can be very reasonable, and the location can't be beat. They can be pricey at certain times, and we've found that staying at a place with a full breakfast and paying for parking at DL is a wash cost wise. We like Residence Inn Maingate...free FULL breakfast, free parking, and still only a 10-15 min walk to the parks. Also have full kitchens in their rooms.

NO I just called about the same thing.

Thanks!

Also how quickly do you need to make a reservation? I'm planning a trip for late September and wondered will the great rates I see now remain the same in May or June and is this hotel so popular that I need to make a a reservation soon vs. waiting until early summer?

book as soon as you know your dates. I waited in hopes that maybe they would come down when we went, but they only go up. as soon as the dates start filling up their prices will increase.
