HELP! Delayed check-in dilema at WL

OK gang, need some advice. Two weeks away and I hit a snag. Without being too dramatic, here is the situation: We are passholders and FL residents. We must arrive a day later than planned at the WL for a 5 night stay. Our check-in date is set as the last day of the value period and if we shift the reservation by a day, the rate goes up $60 per night by falling in the peak period (but it is moot because there are no rooms left anyway.) Hate to pay for a night and not be there but economically it is better to simply pay for a lost night than fall into the higher rate period.... but will Disney let you do this? Anyone have any experience with this?

A second question is about adding a night onto the stay.....anyone been able to do this at the desk at check-in? CRO says WL is full. THANKS!

If you don't show up to check in on the first day of your reservation, the entire rest of your stay will be cancelled. They will not let you reserve, for instance, from Monday to Saturday - but actually arrive on Tuesday. Sorry! I know this has come up a few times before, and that's always the way it works. You must get there on the first day of your reservation, or change your ressie dates. Good luck!

If you don't show up that first day your reservation will cancel. At that point you won't have any room.

If it is due to weather they can be flexible but if it is because you want the lower rate I doubt you will have much luck.

The only ones that can fix this is Disney so I would call them now! I am sure you don't want any surprises when you do arrive a day late.

Thanks for the info, sort of what I expected, unless the front desk could intervene. This is a Mom & Dad only trip. What happened is that my wonderful mother-in-law, our built-in-babysitter, has had a change to her schedule and can't take over with the kids now till Feb 17. We are so blessed to have her, things happen at the last minute sometimes.......I will just tell her my work schedule changed and we had to postpone, I wouldn't want her to feel bad. Previously we made ressies for the 16th. When I learned about the conflict, I tried to make other arrangements but Disney CRO had no WL rooms available to slide a day later at any price....Oh well.

I'm assuming since you are a FL resident that you will be driving. Can you and your wife just arrive on different dates. One of you can go ahead and check in and the other arrive the next day when MIL is available. I hate to see anyone cancel a trip when you're this close!!

skip the mil and take the kids! you'll have a great time!! or, any chance you could find an interim babysitter for just the one day?

Good thought....$130 into Tampa and $180 into Orlando one way. Don't mind driving by myself. It is a 7 hour drive and the car knows the way by itself!!! Works out to about the same as a night at the lodge. I will bounce this off my spouse and see what she thinks. I don't want to over-engineer this (ids that possible). Where does the romantic end and the fanatic begin?
