Help. Deck 1 on Disney Wonder?

We are looking into booking a cruise on the Wonder but there are only a few rooms showing up as still available on the ship. How do you feel about deck 1 on the Wonder? Pros and Cons please. We have never sailed on the Wonder but have been on the Dream twice. Both times Inside Stateroom Midship (deck 8&9). My main concern with deck 1 is noise and feeling ship movement. We are looking at Oceanview rooms midship and aft. Thanks for your help!

Deck 1 on the Wonder rooms are primarily from midship forward (none in the aft). The oceanview rooms have two small portholes. The deck itself (in regards to people walking up and down the passageway) is pretty quiet, since the passageway doesn't go the whole length of the ship, and the only people there would be those in those rooms.

We've only been on deck 2 on both the Wonder and the Magic, and didn't have any noise issues/ship movement there. Yes, there is some noise, as well as some movement (but IMO less than you find on the upper decks).

We have been on Deck 1 on both the Magic and Wonder. I personally think it is fine.

We spent 14 nights on deck 1 of the Wonder on a Panama Canal cruise. I loved it. As Shmoo said, the hallways are quiet, I find the biggest issue with noise on any ship is related to people either talking or running in the hallways. We had no issues with it at all. Since then, we have been on deck 1 of both old Disney ships multiple times.

I've only been on Deck 1 one time to get free Dramamine on a cruise where there was some serious seas on the first night.

The only thing I can say is that it really didn't smell good down there, and the rooms are only way far forward on the boat so they movement on the boat was most pronounced.

Great to hear that from someone who has stayed there. We've been on Deck 2, so can't talk about 1, but it was quiet and somehow felt like a "retreat" from the rest of the ship since we were below any deck with public locations. We may have been on the same PC cruise as you, and loved our "lower" stateroom!

Too bad you couldn't get the Deck 2 oceanview.... the mega sized window feels like you have a climate controlled balcony.

Glad to read this! We have 2120 booked for our Alaskan cruise next year because I can't justify a balcony (esp when factoring in the lousy CDN exchange) but I'm really looking forward to a nice, big porthole

Sailed on the wonder 2 years ago and loved level 1... didn't hear anything and didnt feel anything!! midship is the best of you fear motion sickness!

Our first cruise on Disney was on the Wonder and we were in Cabin 1030 at the very end of the hallway. The room had two small portholes and just one bathroom. No noise, or traffic in the hallway, to speak of except for when the gangway was pulled in or out.

One thing we liked was that the doorway right across from ours exited to the Deck 1 gangway and we were quickly outside when leaving the ship.

We just sailed Deck 1 on Wonder earlier this month. We didn't have a problem with noise, motion, or anything. The worst part is that it is so far away from the pool deck (aka drink station, quick service, etc.). That was quite inconvenient. We, for sure, didn't want to forget anything in the room since it was such a hassle to go down to get it.

Elevators were easy to get, since by the time they made it down, they were empty. I don't think we had to wait any longer for an elevator on deck 1 than we did when we were on deck 5 last year.

I had the chance to book a different room after I booked deck one and chose not to. I wanted to experience deck one because you never really know until you try. Now that I've done it, I probably won't again unless it is my only choice, but do I regret staying there? NO!! I have no complaints other than being far away from drink station.

I say just do it!! and keep checking back to see if you can upgrade, because people cancel all the time and there is a good chance something will open up unless time has ran out.
