Hi all - there is so much Disney knowledge on these boards I'm hoping someone can shed some light on this (nice to have) quandary.. We are planning a September 5 or 6 night stay at Disney world and normally I would just book my favorite - Boardwalk Villas - but having just stayed there last month my husband is not thrilled with the idea of returning to the same resort. Instead he wants to be on a monorail resort. I do not have any experience at any of these except for a stay at the Poly 25+ years ago when I was a kid!

My question is - which resort is best for children ages 7 and 2? we are looking at booking a club level room because it is a quick breakfast option and my kids want to eat almost immediately after they wake up. (Hence the reason why we usually stay in a villa with a kitchen! :) )

Any tips, advice would be greatly appreciated! thank you

Everyone will have their own perspective on "best."

Here is what I, me, think:
  • The big plus of the Contemporary Resort is you can walk to Magic Kingdom. Epcot, you transfer from the resort monorail line at the TTC for Epcot; it's a wee longer on the return due to loop directions. The pool has a (boring!) splash pad. Club Level has wonderful fireworks views.
  • Poly is 2 hops by monorail or a boat ride to MK, and you can walk to the TTC for a direct line to Epcot. The tiki splash pad is killer for your 2YO. Club Level again has good fireworks views.
  • GF has two club levels. The Alice in Wonderland splash pad is adorable. You're one stop by monorail to Magic Kingdom (but cannot walk) and can walk to the Poly. Return from MK takes a bit longer. I think they still have a daily Princess Promenade, if you have a girl.
I think, thematically, Poly wins if you like lush, Contemporary if you like the theme that is "HEY TRAIN" because the monorail runs through it, and GF if you like Victorian elegance. All three have a character meal at some point in the day.

I have not been to Contemporary so can't really say my opinion on that. However I have stayed at GF and Poly. Either one would be great for the little ones. The splash area at both resorts are great and both feature pools have zero entry. The Hawaii building where club level is and where you would be staying if you booked club is very close to the pool in case you need to run inside. GF, the lounge is a little bit further. Monorail transportation is very close by at both and each features a few great options for dining. Both resorts are great though. Good luck with your decision and happy planning.
