Help deciding what to do about HS

My trip is 8/25- 8/31. Booked long before Star Wars was announced. The only time I can do HS is the evening of the 28th or the evening of the 30th. Fastpasses for slinky dog are already gone for the 28th. Should I attempt to go on the 30th? Will I even get in if I dont arrive until 5pm? I would have ADR's and Fastpasses booked. I dont really care about the star wars stuff. I really just wanted to do SDD and see the star wars fireworks. Was hoping for the dessert party, but i dont show that is available for that week either. My fastpass day is this morning so i need to decide quick!

Right now, it remains to be seen how they will handle the park and what effect GE will have on the rest of HS and other parks. But, take a look at Pandora and AK for example. While the waits to get into the land were extraordinary the park didnt hit capacity closures. With it appearing like a reservation system isnt coming to WDW like it did for DL, I think it's a safe bet that you will be able to get into the park that afternoon.

My hesitation would be that, even if the park doesn't hit capacity, everyone that is struggling to get into SW:GE will be headed to the other offerings at HS, with SDD being one of the most popular attractions. It's just too hard to tell, but I would expect large crowds either way.

There is always give and take. If that’s the only time you can go, yes, you should be able to get in but I think it’s a safe bet to expect larger than normal crowds, traffic, etc for the opening of the most anticipated land in theme park history
