I am traveling with my husband and 4 year old son.We have never cruised before. We must decided today between rooms 2072 or 5524 both same price.Room 2072 is midship so may help with sea sickness. And room 5524 is close to Oceaneer Club.

The stateroom on the higher deck! Are there any staterooms below deck 2? I understand they are very noisy. We only ventured to the lowest deck once and it was very "rocky" down there (not a DCL ship however.)

with DS4, I would go for room 5524. Since is a "Secret" Porthole room - you will get some natural light and have an obstructed ocean view - at the price of an inside room. The value of this room and the location to the club makes it perfect for you - not a hard decision at all.

The two rooms should not have the same price - the deck 2 room is a cat 9 (more expensive) and the deck 5 room is a cat 10.

Yes there are staterooms on deck 1. Oh, BTW it's still above the water line of the ship. There are at least 4 deck below deck 1 for crew, storage and operations.

Thank You for your replys . I am concerned with being in the foward part of ship, because of sea sickness. Do you think it really matters?

We were in 6514 on our 1/16 Wonder - it was a great room. No problem with location - I would do it again. Previously we were in 6544 which is a little further back, and I did not notice any difference in motion between the rooms. I would definitely go with deck 5.

Did you see all the spiders and snakes too? That's my favorite part!

The mis-information regarding deck 2 on these threads is amazing; which is in part probably why it's one of the best values on the ship.

We just returned from the 1/16 Wonder. Our room was on the 2nd deck near the rear elevators, we loved it. Your only a few minutes away from any thing at most. Our friends were in on the 8th deck and were rocking the whole time.

We were on deck 2 last March and loved it! NO motion and very quiet

We did our first cruise in room 6626-pretty far aft. We had very rough weather and decided that the next cruise we would go CAT 9, deck 2, mid-ship. In fact, we chose cabin 2070! We have not cruised yet, but I have a feeling we would enjoy the 'less motion' more.

As I mentioned earlier, I think deck 2 is one of the best values on the ship, though for me I wouldn't want a room directly under Wavebands/Rockin' Bar D if I were traveling with my kids. The other nightclubs are not a problem.

I had my first deck 2 experience on an upgrade from a cat 11 GTY to room 2518. I was worried as it was on Dave's noisy room list, but I found the list is based on dated information. 2518 is under Diversions which is not at all noisy. I liked the room so much I booked 2510 for my cruise last month and have 2550-something or other and 2506 booked for my next two. :-)

just back from 1/8 magic room 2080. loved being on deck 2. our room was listed on daves noisy list. we here some bangs but we also heard the water as the shipped cruised along. it may have been from the 12-15 ft waves that week but im not sure.
anyway, you get used to the noise real quick like its not there. you are also 1 deck below main atrium.
another good thing is youre rt down the hall from laundrey room.

:cool1:

I had 5524. LOVED the location. So very quiet. If the room on the second floor is a regular category 10, JUMP of the 5th deck room since it does have the porthole. We loved the room.

I don't know about movement on deck 2 but we have had forward cabins and aft cabins and we WAY prefer aft. Not all the way aft but definitely way more movement (we felt) in our forward cabin and in all the forward restaurants, theatres etc. Our favorite is about deck 5 or 6 just a little aft. Perfect. We'll be experiencing deck 2 next month but we are forward this time so I hope it will be ok.

BTW, where are the laundry rooms located on deck 2?

Jolly Holiday, we were on the 1/8/05 cruise and had stateroom 2068 it was great because it was about three rooms up from the elevator you would be about five rooms from the elevator. We loved it and we loved the porthole window.

We were just ugraded to 2072 from a cat.12 for our 2/26/05 Western. This past June we were in 7076 for the Eastern which was incredible. That trip had our family of 4. This trip my DH & I are going solo without kids so we opted for a less expensive stateroom to be able to go again so soon. Different decks but same midship area. Glad to hear deck 2 is well liked.
