My dd and I are going to WDW and staying at All Star movies in Feb. We will be there a week, but now my dh wants to join us for a few days. I know when you book a package everybody has to be on the same plan, but is there a way to get around this since he is only staying 2 out of the 7 days? :confused3 By the way, we havent booked our trip yet.

Book your trip - don't mention him. When he arrives go to the desk and get a key for him. It won't be a problem.

Liz

what about a shuttle to the hotel from the airport? We will be doing the Disney one, will he have to take a separate one?

Beth

P.S.- I'm not trying to cheat the Disney people, but really dont want pay for a 7 day trip for him if he is going for only 2.

If he is not listed on the reservation I don't think he can sign up for Magical Express.

I would book for only who you are for sure are going.
If you DH desides to join you later.
Just have him pay for his ground transportation.
Get him a key & the tickets he needs.
You should be fine.

Another solution is to book your package, include your husband, there won't be any additional charge for him as far at the room rate goes. If you know how many days he will be joining you for add passes for all of you for that many days. When you and your daughter arrive you can add the extra days to your passes. You will be given your husband's key, he can use magical express too. I did this for my daughter. She arrived a few days after us, no problem getting her ME for her arrival.

So if your and your daughter will be there for 7 days and your husband for say 4 days, get a MYW package for the three of your for 7 nights with 4 day passes. Upgrade yours and your daughters passes to include the extra days when you arrive. Arrange for ME for all three of you, even if your husband arrives at a different time.

If I do it this way, can i also add the dining plan for the rest of the days? Does it cost extra? And, Do I add extra passes right away or when he leaves?

Thanks for the info.

Beth,

If you are going to be doing the dining package, you have to get it for all three of you for the entire trip. You can't break that up. BUT...if you want to do the dining package for you and your daughter only than just book the package with dining for the two of you. When your husband arrives you can just let the front desk know of his arrival, he can purchase his passes and get his room key so you can all do EMH and such. When dining out, just pay for him OOP, or if your daughter counts as a child on the dining plan, you can probably use her credits for your husband those days and pay for your daughter's children's meals OOP. Remember, the room rate is for 2 adults per room, so your husband won't cost you anymore money to share your room, but make sure front desk knows about it.

another option would be to book dh on your ressie, buy tickets thru the package for the number of days he would need, upgrading yours and dd's when you get there, and use his dining credits to enjoy add'l meals when he's not there or go to the luau and hoop dee doo revue!!!

that's what i would do! :flower:

I wouldn't worry about it. Have him pick up a 2-day pass and have him pay for his transfers. IMO, it's not really a big deal.

IF you are feeling like you would be "cheating" Disney (and IMO you are not) and the 2 days he'll be there will be at one of the ends of the trip, then you can split your trip up into a 5 day trip with you and your child and a two day trip with all three of you. You can then buy your DH the dining plan and your DH can take Magical Express. However, it will cost you a *lot* more for your tickets.

We booked an 8 night package with the free dining for the beginning of October this year. After we already paid for our pacage in full my college age daughter decided she wanted to join us for a long weekend since she did not have classes on Thursday or Friday.
I called my TA to let her know about 10 days before we were leaving. The TA called Disney and ME. When I checked in at All Star Music I just let the front desk know my daughter was coming for 3 nights.
I paid the extra fee of $30 for the extra adult and they made a room key for her.
My TA said said that when my daufgter got to the MCO she should pick up her own luggage then go to the ME express and give them our reservation #
telling them the rest of the party had arrived earlier in the week and ME would take her to All Star Music.
We just bought her tickets seperatly and paid OOP for her meals
Everything worked out fine and we all had a great time.
Have fun at Disney!

no can do... dining plan packages must be for three nights or more...

also, by not having dh on the ressie at all, he will not be eligible for EMHs and that could be a problem...

i still think my solution of keeping dh on the ressie for the entire trip is the best (LOL)... using those extra dining credits is not a big deal, esp if you want to try any signature restaurants or dinner shows that require two TS credits... and using the extra counter service meals is not too difficult either, imo... as for snack credits, you can always bring water bottles or sodas or chips back to the room/back home w/you... those mickey-krispie bars makes great lunchbox treats long after you get home :)

The husband will not have a room key with his name on it. He wouldn't be able to go the EMH's at the parks.

One option is skip the package. You can buy passes through an internet discounter and save some money.

Do you really have to have dining? What is the ages of your kids? By the time you add in the room discount you lose, pay transfers for your DH and pay extra for your passes paying for the dining plan might not be the best option.

Will you be using the extra park hours?

Worse case scenario use the extra meal credits for extra meals and 2 credit meals. Have your husband pay to upgrade his pass to add the no expiration feature before he checks out. You can then use the extra pass days for a future trip. Alternately you could book your package with 2 or 3 day passes and just upgrade your passes after you checkin.

I didn't know that 3 days was the minimum. AFAIC, EMHs are not all they are cracked up to be and he could easily miss them on his two days.

{shrug} I wouldn't want to pay $245 for meals for 2 days for my DH. There is soooo much food that having "extras" is really not worth it, IMO. If she was to add him to her whole reservation, I would suggest that she only purchase 2 day passes for everone and upgrade to a 7 day those who need to at the gate. I don't remember if she loses would lose the advance purchase discount.

I just booked a two night stay with the dining option. My daughter and I are taking a quick girls only trip for her 7th birthday.

This is all so confusing :confused3  I wish he'd just stay home :rotfl2: This was suppossed to be a mother :earsgirl: daughter princess: retreat. lol I had everything planned until he said he wants to go.

Beth

LOL! have you told him that?! maybe he thinks he's *supposed* to want to go? perhaps plan a special day for him/dd before/after the trip?
