HELP! Confused points/use year

I have points coming for my August 2006 use year. Making these points good from August 1, 2006 to July 31st 2007. I want to make reservations for October 2006 at the 7 month point in March. Will i be able to use the August 2006 points? I wont be in my 2006 use year when i call for the reservation in March, but my reservation is for after my use year begins(October). I hope this makes sense!

Yes you can reserve anytime within the booking window for trips after your use year rolls over. So you could book, now, for a trip in Jan '07 at your home resort......

Think of it like booking a reservation and paying for it. You can make a reservation, now, but you won't have the money to "pay for it until August.

You can book stays at non-home resorts starting 7 months out from your check-out day. The only thing you need is enough points available in the same use year as your travel dates.

Your Aug 2006 use year points are good for stays from Aug 1, 2006 to Jul 31, 2007. Oct 2006 falls within that window so the points can be used for that stay.

This is a point that confuses alot of new members. They look at the points available on the date they call for the reservation, not the date of the stay. They also think that points are not in the account until the 1st day of the use year, that is not correct either. All the points for the remainder of your contract are already there for use based on the date of stay.
