Hi all, I really need some help form the Pros. I am thinking about upgrading to a deluxe resort, WL CL is what I am looking at. Problem is, the first CM at Special needs told me that the room would be a small suite, but today, the Special needs CM told me that the fully accessible room only has 1 king bed and I have 3 adults. Special needs told me that I would have to book 2 rooms and I don't want to do that, don't they have to provde me with appropriate accommodations. Please, please, I really need some help. A regular standard (which I was told wasn't avail as fully HA) isn't quite large enough, because we will have 2 ECV's. I don't know what to do.

What options do I have? We fit comfortably in a CR Tower MK view room, but it wasn't fully accessible and mom definitely has to have that for our December trip.
Please Help!!!!!

Rather than trying to make the reservation through special needs, just use regular reservations and state that an accessible room is required. Tell them you want WL Concierge level. As the standard room is able to sleep four adults, and you are telling them there are three adults, they must provide you with the accessible accommodations (if available) and normally this will mean they will give you a connecting room at no additional charge. This will not be stated on the confirmation. As long as the confirmation states that an accessible room is guaranteed you will be OK.

Thank you so much. I decided to try that, because of all that I had read here, but wanted some advice from those that know BEST. The SN CM told me that they could probably put a roll away in the room. I knew that wasn't possible, except for a child under 3. You made me feel much better CF.

I was trying to find out what I could, because I am using a AAA TA to get my discount.

ACtually for a party of three, they CAN put in a rollaway bed. This has been done for many guests needing a fully accessible room with three adults at a value resort so it stands to reason it can/would be done at WL ( where the rooms are larger than the value resorts.) ---Kathy

I have stayed in a King Barrier free room at WL and there is no room for a roll away in there. Well, I won't accept that, My mom can't sleep on a roll away and DH and I are not going to sleep in seperate beds during our Anniversary/Christmas trip. I don't believe they would do that on Club Level. I also thought that was a fire hazard.

I am traveling with my 83 year old Mom to WDW 4/27 - 5/3. Last year we stayed at the Wilderness Lodge in a regular Courtyard View Room with 2 Queen Beds. Although we had a great time, and loved the lodge, it was difficult for my Mom not having handrails by the toilet, and she also found the seat itself to be too low. When I made our reservation for this year, I stated that we needed handrails by the toilet AND 2 beds. I was placed on hold while the Castmember spoke with Special Needs, and supposedly everything is all set. However, as the trip approaches, I am concerned that there is no such thing as a room with this setup!
I have not called back to re-confirm, because as a longtime lurker on these boards, and from personal experience with the Disney reservations system, I am fairly sure I will not be able to get any kind of definitive answer by calling back.
Does anyone know from personal experience if WL rooms exist with 2 queen beds and handrails by the toilet? I'm just worried that when we check in it's going to be a HA bathroom, but with 1 king bed...and that's not going to work! Thanks!!! Note: The tub/ shower setup is not a concern, and I stated this when making the reservation. And although we are renting a wheelchair for the duration of the trip, it is more for our days in the parks/stamina issues as opposed to in the room/ hotel. Thanks again!

Hi Jimsie46, when we stayed at CR and AKL last December, we were in rooms with 2 queen beds and there were hand rails next to the toilet and we used a tubseat. The tubseat at CR had a back and the one at AKL didn't .

Our problem is that mom can't lift her legs high enough to get in the tub, not even after sitting on the seat, and that made for a difficult vacation. I will double check everything several times before we go this time, so we don't have another problem.

We decided to go with WL CL.

Unfortunately if your party size can be accomodated with a rollaway bed, then there is no provision for another accommodation ( ie: connecting room ). I have stayed at a value resort in which the rooms are much smaller than WL with three adults and the solution/accommodation was the rollaway bed despite the fact that I have a long power chair, lots of medical equipment, plus a service dog. Lisa, who also posts here can vouch for having the rollaway also since I recall a post in which she had three adults at an AS resort with the rollaway provided. The ADA does not require Disney to do more than accommodate your party size the same as everyone else. Perhaps things will be different for the OP but I wouldn't count on it.---Kathy

I am NOT going to pay $400+/night and sleep on a roll-away, but someone called WL CL for me and was told that they will probably be giving us a connecting room at no additional charge, as that is what they usually do in this case. I am probably also going to be adding a child to my ressie anyway, so 1 king and 1 roll-away won't work for 4 people.

Suzanne- first of all I don't blame you at all for not wanting the rollaway and indeed, paying for a CL level room who doesn't want the best when you're splurging on the best? IMO the rollaway wasn't a great solution but apparently meets the letter of the law. There's no reason you can't call and let them know it's your anniversary and that a rollaway would not be appropriate for your Mom's medical condition. I'd want to know for sure, not just how a situation with three adults is "usually handled" as the CL CM's aren't the ones who block rooms. You're going during a popular time of year for WL resort and don't want to arrive to find that there isn't a solution. Also I'm not sure if you're adding a child just to be sure there are four guests or if a child is actually going ( please don't think I'm assuming this either as I'm not- I have no idea of your plans and guests involved), but if so then that might lead to an awkward situation with the CL CM's or at the front desk when you check in. I'd call and ask to speak with special services, let them know what you feel you'll need (not want) and see if they can confirm your accommodations. They may not be able to say exactly the words you are hoping to hear but usually can confirm that "you'll be comfortable" in a more roundabout way. We accepted the rollaway twice then the third time after we arrived at the resort and the front desk saw my chair, equipment, and SD we were given more appropriate accommodations since that CM realized we'd be really crunched in one room with a rollaway. We were lucky though that another room was available as we might've been stuck otherwise. As I mentioned your ressie needs to be detailed with your needs- not everyone can transfer to a rollaway or maneuver safely in a more crowded room with an ECV and in fact you will have two ECV's which is more limiting in terms of space and maneuverability. If it were me I wouldn't want to worry all the way to December about a most special vacation. ----Kathy

I really thought a roll-away in a room like that was a fire hazard, especially because of all the discussion on the Resort Board about having more people in a room than are supposed to be there. I will definitely find out before I go.

We will more than likely end up taking my then to be 10 year old cousin with us, so we will have a child in the room with us. I would never tell them that just to get additional accommodations, I know some people might, but I wouldn't do that, cause I would be the person to get in trouble and that is not me.

I will definitely get with SN and talk to them several times before we arrive. In fact, I will probably call them shortly, since my ressie did change from the AS Family Suites to WL.

After all, I think my family deserves a little treat for Christmas and we just weren't going to get it at AS Music. After dealing with the shooting at my hospital recently, life and family have become a more important to me, because we never know what is going to happen from one day to the next.

Suzanne- I hope you have the most magical trip ever and get to be spoiled by CL at such a gorgeous resort. You're right- we have to enjoy the time we have now to the best of our ability as we never know when circumstances might change. My parents saved all their lives to enjoy their retirement and health issues now prevent them from even enjoying life, let alone getting to travel or do the things they'd dreamed about.

It's tough enough to even make a decision about where to stay at WDW with so many choices and it's nice to have something wonderful to anticipate once you've made plans. Sometimes I think the anticipation is the best part as then I get the "joy" from knowing I will be spending quality time with my family even before we arrive. Good luck with your plans!---Kathy

I can't blame you for this pov, Suzanne. I'll send you a PM with some info for you to be able to see if this 'probably' will likely happen or not.
