I have always rented a car when we go down to Disney, I like the flexability of coming and going. I have a trip planned for October this year and the prices for any rentals are double what I paid in December last yes. Holy cow! and I am using a dicount from Bj's. Is anyone else having this issue too?

I got a great rate for a minivan in August using one of the codes on Mousesavers. I just sat down and plug in each code from the website into the car rental sites and chose the best one.

I've gone the past 2 years in Oct and paid less than $200 all included for SUV's each year. BUT it is way to early to be looking, the best rates don't come out until much closer to travel time. Keep an eye on the Transportation Boards and you'll see when the deals start to come out. It's really to soon for even decent summer rates yet.

You really need to do a lot of research and find coupons/deals. There seems to be a lot more people traveling and less inventory available. They'll keep raising the prices if everyone pays them. I know the last time we went it was over $450, but with discounts I was able to get it down to around $200 for a week.

Just keep looking and hopefully you'll find some deals.

YOu are looking for an Oct rental WAY too early. You best deals will be found closer to your travel date. Read though the FEB car rental rate thread on the transportation board. WHen that thread was started months ago people where being quoted several hundred $$$. Now the rates are less than $200. So be patient. and look around on the transportaion thread for discount codes.

I only book a week before our trip because that is when the last minute deals are released usually on Tue. In fact I can't wait for tomorrow to book my car for next week. The past few years I have been able to get a mid size for less then $100 with alamo.

You don't want to pick up a car at the airport. They'll tag you with an airport tax.

looks like inflation is starting to kick in.

Like others have said, it is too early to find a great deal for Oct.

Also, this should be on the Transportation board. You will find LOTS of help over there!

that is true that the rates drop closer to your travel time. Last year, I just happended to check the day before our trip an I ended up paying 175 for 11 days!
the original price was close to 400 dollars. I also check on the Costco site and American Express.
Good luck!

Priceline. Name your own price. Always worth a try. Got a 6 day standard car from LAX last summer for $150. Bid $18 dollars a day and got it. Florida charges more in taxes on rental cars so good luck. Just remember if your bid is successful, you pay right then and there. No cancellation. But if it is not accepted you can't bid again for 24 hours. Worth a shot to save a lot. Best if its a round trip rental. They don't take one way unless its airport to another airport

I reserved our rental for early June in Feb last year and got a great rate $17.56 a day. Now it's $69 a day from Orlando and $116 from Tampa! I wanted to fly into Tampa (relatives) and spend a few days there but it looks like we'll be driving from Orlando.
