I have tried Mousesaver codes,DC membership and Entertainment book coupon and can't get anything lower than $570 total for Nov.28-Dec.15. I did see on another post that someone got a great rate for our dates using BJ's wholesale club and was wondering how you qualify to join? The plan we have now is to rent an intermediate car from National for 4 days($140 total with DC & Coupon)then towncar Dec.5-9th to Universal and back to WDW($50) and then on Dec.15 towncar to airport($50).
We would like pickup at airport due to the time we arrive and a car bigger than compact.

Best plan: Rentalcar from Nov.28-Dec.15th pickup at airport 9 pm return time 11am.

Next best: Rentalcar from Nov.28-Dec.10 with dropoff at DCCC or Swan & Dolphin add $50 for towncar to airport on Dec. 15. The pickup date could be changed to Nov.30 with pickup at DCCC or S&D but would add round trip towncar $90.

Sorry so long but wanted to include all the facts in hope someone will find a better solution than me as i don't have much experience renting cars. Thanks for your help.

I was dealing with outragous car rental $$ for a short trip in August. I finally tried priceline and was very happy with it.
I have noticed that car rental rates continue to be high....Good luck!

Try Hotwire. I've never used them but I was checking prices for my trip in March, and the price from Hertz was $139. more on their site than it was for them through Hotwire.

Just call them to ask the requirements but I think being anything from a small business owner to a government employee will qualify. I believe membership in some credit unions also qualifies. BJ's and other clubs like to give the aura of being "special" to some of these memberships but I think that is all hype. They basically all want your membership dollars and will let you join. That being said I am going to reveal my age here and let you know that I often seem to get the best rate through my AARP membership. You have to be 50 to join but I seem to get better rates with their codes. I haven't tried the mousaver codes etc so I don't know how they compare. Perhaps a senior member here has tried both and can give an opinion on this. I do know that no matter what rate you get you should check the rental rate frequently. They often change and may drop lower - even after the rate has climbed above the price you were originally quoted. Good luck!

Rental rates for 5 day periods or more usually seem to be lower than less than 5 days.

Thrifty has been having good rates. Try to qualify for a weekly rate. That can be much cheaper.

Best one week rental rate I found was at Thrifty. In early December their rate for Standard size - 7 day rental - was $94.88. If you go to www.rentalcars.com first there are a couple of links that you click on for extra savings (one should entitle you to a free upgrade at rental based on availability and the other gives 10%off rental). IF I remember correctly their other rates were: economy $79.88 and midsize $84.88.

We haven't rented from Thrifty in Orlando but my DH has rented from them several times on business trips with no problems. (Actually, our worst experience on a rental was with Alamo.)

I'm still checking rates daily.

Hope you have a great trip!
