Well I just rang 4 different people at Disney Direct and despite explaining I wanted to stay 4th - 9th May and was buying my AP the morning of the 4th and would have it for check in.....

they are not budging.

"No ma'am no pass in your hand right now no booking...have a nice day"

So i asked for a quote on how much it would be at that time with a pass...

Nope no pass, no tell.

Very helpful. I'm sure i read before that you could book with AP discount but obviously make sure you check in with the pass (although i suppose that is faith in goodwill on the CMs behalf).

annoyingly i'm there for 5 nights and manly wanted the AP to get me the discount as couldn't afford to stay on site otherwise.

Ah well outside the park it is then or is their a way round this??? the meanies it's for our wedding anniversary too

Kxx

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Now they are saying they can't give me room only prices as they DON'T DO IT!!!

So i asked what you would do if you had an annual pass how were you supposed to stay on site.

"Oh do you have an annual pass?"
"Not yet"
"Well then until you do we can't give you any prices....":rolleyes1

Oh good god I thought these people were meant to be helpful????

Please noone suggest Expedia I can never find anything out on there I guess I'm just really unlucky...:lmao:

oh well my shareholder numbers at work better try them monday!

Ive only ever read of one person on here who has been able to book AP room only without actually having AP - I just think they were extremely lucky and got a CM who didnt realise as you do need to give your AP number when you book.

You could book one of the off site hotels room only- Explorers/Holiday Inn etc.
If you were willing to take the risk you could just book this for one night then when you have AP try to book room only on site if thats what you really want but you run the risk there may be no rooms left although saying that we got an extra 2 nights at Holiday Inn in middle of summer on the day (no rooms left at any onsite hotel though)

The discount you get varies so much as well - with dream pass you are guaranteed 10% off (although think I read something here recently of someone who didnt even get that) but may get up to 30% - it depends on hotel and availibility at the time of booking.

I will just get some quotes when i get my AP in September.

How far in advance can you book hotels? Can i book in September for next September?

Ring again and say you have a AP, they wont know will they?

Yes they will :thumbsup2
Once you have been given your quote and say that you want to confirm booking the CRO takes your AP number.
Telling them that you don't currently hold an AP means that they are not able to proceed with giving you a AP quote :) Without the AP you will not be able to get a reservation nor lock the price that you are quoted.

That's right. I think it was the Disneyland Hotel since if the demand is high because it is a busy season then there will be less to no rooms allocated at the lower rate.
Unfortunately there is no way of knowing in advance what the discount will be :confused3

i booked room only with AP discount before purchasing my AP when we went in Sept 07, i kept getting the "we cant give you a quote without an AP number" so i kept phoning until i got a very helpful CM who said it was fine to book without AP number although i would have to produce my card on arrival, i said not a problem as the plan was to buy and then check-in. We tried our luck as soon as we got there and thye didnt even ask! we then went to park and brough AP's. you can also buy them before you go through the post, you just need to ring the booking number and ask to be put through to the AP office and then they will sned you a form. Its in french but you can use an online translator and then complete.

we booked room only on expedia for april as we intend on getting APs while we are there. on the main page click the tab that says hotel only on the left in yellow, then in the space type in disneyland paris. then you should get lots of quotes for room only, or you could call up expedia and ask that way.
i think with dream AP you get 10% off at all times and upto 30% at other times on selected dates at selected hotels, then with fantasy AP you get 10% on selected dates at selected hotels.
HTH!

How long did it take to receive the AP's by post? And do you have to activiate the temp one they issue you within 30 days?

Does anyone know if you can book room only being a shareholder but minus an AP?

If so i could always go through the shareholders line. Annoyingly can't check till monday-details of shares account are at work.

Yes Reid I finally did it and bought some shares and do you know what?? it was so easy!!! Very proud too, my invoice goes with me everywhere...

Otherwise I think we'll book into the Etap at Val D'europe for the duration as we will be spending a few days seeing Paris for a change too! works out £180 for us both for 5 nights so can't grumble at that and it's right by the station.... apparantly (has anyone been i can't find any reviews for this place?!)

Would have been fab to stay onsite as always do but hey-plenty more years and more excuses to book more trips, like i need any - (excuses to go that is, there is always a need to go to DLP).

Hmmm but onsite have gyms! maybe i can do 3 nights at val d'europe and chance getting an onsite hotel for the last 2 nights so as not interrupt my training (you need it after all the calorific meals onsite!! )

Yes you can. You phone the shareholders club in France. When they answer the phone I asked if anyone spoke English. I was then transferred and spoke to a CM.
The quote I got for the summer room only was no where near as good as the Dream AP.

I compared quotes using shareholder against standard early booking discount last month (my AP had run out so couldn't use that one). The early booking discount of 15% with kids free came up cheaper than the shareholder one would.

A couple of years ago I was never asked for my AP number when booking room only but more recently they seem more organised and ask and record it when you do the quote/booking.

I gave up eventually and just booked with a shareholder's discount. A cast member told me that they make it as awkward as possible to get an annual pass because they really just want locals to get them and use them. I could not believe my ears!

I asked for a quote using AP and Shareholders discount and it came out the same price. This happened on the last 2 occasions I booked. This is with a Dream AP.

Thanks for this guys really helpful as always!:thumbsup2

Damn not getting castle club discounts I was wondering about splashing and staying in CC for one night at new year (I might have won the lottery by then who knows!):lmao:

but can barely afford it at standard let alone without a discount maybe another year!!!
