Help! Candlelight Processional Meals vs. Regular PS?

This is the first year we have gone to WDW for Thanksgiving. With Candlelight Processional Meal Packages going on sale September 2, that is already inside the 90 day point for making regular priority seatings for November 26.

Since it's Thanksgiving weekend and it will be crowded, should we make a regular PS for that evening and then try for the CP dinner package on September 2 and cancel the original PS or do you think it really doesn't matter?

Since Thanksgiving weekend is a busy time, I would do just what you said - make a regular PS at the 90 day mark then call to get the CP package on September 2. If you get what you want for the CP package, then you can cancel the regular PS. If not, you will have your regular PS to fall back on.
