We have been going to FW for many years but did not go last year. We always stay in the 800 loop, and have a 22 ft. RV and also use a large tent to accommodate our large family and three pugs. Now we are confused :confused3 about the site since they have redone them. I have the premium site reserved, but need to know if it is possible to put a tent on the site. I called the Fort and they said that we cannot stake down a tent, but you can have a tent.:scared1:Is that true and have any of you had any experience with this???? Please Help, we are leaving next week! :santa: Thanks in advance for any advice.......

Lisa :thanks:

It's true. You can certainly have a tent on a Premium site, but there is no place to put the stakes in the ground....well almost no place. You can probably put the tent close to the edge and put 2 stakes in the ground, but the Premium sites don't have any shell, just cement.

I think it all depends on the site you get, we just got back and were in the 800 loop and our site would not have room for a tent because of all the concrete. I did see a few sites that were large enough to put a tent backing up to the 700 loop behind the concrete.
There were some posts about this and some people are using buckets full of concrete in place of stakes..

May I suggest, take empty 5 gallon buckets or jugs and fill them with water once you get there. These are very heavy when full of water and could make good hold downs for your tent. We do that with out 10 x 10 awning and it works well.

We're in the 900 loop just a month ago in a tent. We've never staked down our tent, and never had any problems. Our site had about a 2ft wide sand area on the side where the sewer drain and electrical hookups are. So it could be possible to put a couple stakes on the side.

Our biggest problem was without the sandpad, the water from the AC dripped on to the concrete, and went under the tent. After about 3 nights, it seeped up through the tent from all the pressure. So ALL the blankets needed to get washed, and I had to lysol the foam mattress. Plus lysol the tent floor (which came clean farely easy). Next time I'll have to put some sort of plastic under the AC to have it drain off the edge of the site.

The front desk was really helpful about it, but of course asked more of the custodial people than should have. So the Duty manager had to step in to see what was going on, and they provided us with about 10 cabin comforters to make a new bed. Definatly a trip to remember... we usually end up learning a lesson or two every trip we take to the fort.
