Help! Can we get on the dining plan?

Hi there!

Hoping someone may be able to help me.

We're going over to Disney World from the UK next week, we have booked to stay at the Animal Kingdom Lodge Villas and then separately we booked our disney park tickets for the 2 weeks.

We had been thinking about it, and decided that we would like to go on the dining plan. On phoning up disneys customer services, my sister was told that we would not be able to get on the plan as you can only go on it when you purchase a package deal.

This doesn't sound right to me, considering that we are staying on Disney property and have bought the park tickets - does anyone know if this information is correct? Or if not, how we would go about getting on the dining plan at this stage?

Thanks in anticipation!

Katie :)

What your sister was told is correct. The Dining Plan is part of a Magic Your Way package. This needs to include lodging and at least 2 days of tickets.
The entire party needs to be on the same package for the length of stay.
At this point you might be able to add dining if you were willing to convert your stay to a package. You would have to carefully explore this with the CM. The risk is you could potenetially loose your room booking. You would also have to purchase at least a 2 day ticket for every person in your party. These could be saved for a future visit, as they don't expire until 14 days after they are first used. If you don't activate them, then they won't expire.
I don't think there is any other way around this, but if there is I am sure someone will check in.
Sorry

2 days are required for free dining, if you are paying for it you only need one day tickets.

If you are staying on DVC points you can get on DDP without buying park tickets but you need to book it at least 48 hours in advance. If you are paying OOP for the room, then the PP are correct.

Thanks so much for all your replies!

We are staying at the Animal Kindgom villas on DVC points for a week - and we have bought a 14 day pass to all the Disney parks. But we were still told we can't book the DDP.

Thanks again!

Are you renting points from a DVC member because if you are, you would have to contact that person rather than Disney. The member is the only person who can make the arrangements to add the dining plan. It must be added no later than 48 hours before your arrival and it must be paid for at the time it's added.

this is correct, I should have clarified that the DVC owner is the only one who can add the DDP. We stayed on rented points last October and had the owner add dining for us. DW and I had annual passes from a previous trip so we didn't need to buy more park tickets.

If the DVC-er is on the res, have them call DVC Member Services. If you call the res center, they only book WDTC packages (and room onlys).
