Help!! Can someone read this and give me some feedback?

My counselor is putting together a booklet promoting his Christian counseling ministry. He asked me to write a few paragraphs about "what counseling has done for me".

Now, I'm not a writer, so don't be too harsh in your criticism. I've spent two nights on this and I'm still not sure that I'm getting what he wants.


"The pain of depression was immobilizing to me. Day after day, I would get up, go to work, take care of my family, and do only what I needed to do. It was as if all the light had gone out of my life. There were no good days, only some days that weren’t as bad as others. Yet, I could not bring myself to say that I needed help. But even as I continued to retreat into myself, God was
working within me and I was finally able to call New Leaf Ministries and find the healing that I needed.

With compassionate listening, honest feedback, sound Biblical guidance, and motivating encouragement, the counseling at New Leaf Ministries has helped me to see that the God of all grace will “restore, support, strengthen and establish you.” (1 Peter 5:10). I came to realize that first God would have to “restore” me — mend me, help me to put the pieces back together. Then God will help me to become strong, and eventually stable. And that through all of this God would hold me up.

I know that I have the Lord to thank for these changes, but I also know that the Holy Spirit is using New Leaf Ministries as one of His means of achieving this end. "

also the very last paragraph sounds like the Lord and the Holy Spirit are very separated.........I think it could be reworded just a little to "God" in all of his aspects has helped you, or something to that effect.
