HELP...can I upgrade my windows with...

I found a cd at work (a copied one) that is Windows 2000 Pro. I currently have 98 and thing there is alot of "bugs" in my windows. Things are always going on.

Anyway, can I use this cd to upgrade?? I put the cd in to see what would happen and it says something like....."you have an older version of windows...would you like to upgrade to 2000 pro?" I just said no for now and took it out.

Just wondered if there was something to do before I do this, if it is even possible. I read a little on the website about pro but would like to hear from someone in a little more "easier directions" to follow

I have no idea, Lisa. I just wanted to bump this back to the top of the list for you. Did you ask this question on the tech support board? The experts there might know.

I think...am not sure though..you might need a serial #...but again I'm not sure!

Written on the cd is some numbers and letters....I think that could be the "code" if I need one. I am sure someone here has used a "copy" of a windows cd before.

Legally, you can only do it if you have a serial number that has not been used on another computer.

Technically, I have heard of people who have had problems upgrading from 98 to 2000. It would be far better to install it fresh. Of course, you will need to put EVERYTHING back on.
