I posted this on another board because I am not sure where it goes :)

We are planning a trip with our good friends to Disney next April..which we all thought was the week before Easter.

My friend is a teacher and said that they had off the same week next year as this year for break, which is the week before Easter. Great..the plans start rolling and I find us a beautiful home in Emerald Island. We are due to arrive 4/7 and check out on 4/15 which is Easter Sunday. I am happy that we will be there BEFORE Easter and am thinking the crowds, lines, etc will be lighter than if we went after Easter.

I am looking at a post over on the Transportation board today and come to find out that Easter is 4/8, no 4/15. So, our school districh now has the week AFTER Easter off.

I quickly email the home owner and see if we can check in a day early - still waiting to hear back from him.

I guess I am more nervous now about the crowds and the airline ticket prices. Am I am being paranoid or do I have reason for concern? Are the crowds crazy Easter week? Are the airline tickets crazy too?

Hi,

There is no doubt that it will be very busy both of those weeks. And airline prices will be high. You should book your flights sooner rather than later.

Having said that, gazillions of people go every year at that time and have a wonderful trip. Just arrive at the parks early, use Fast Pass wisely, and you'll be fine.

Thanks Bob.

Would you say that the parks are just as busy the week before Easter as they are after Easter?

Either of those weeks are going to be nuts! We were there during the exact same week you are going to be. The parks were absolutely nuts, but we still had a great time. I would prefer to go at a less busy time, but it is still Disney. Take advantage of fastpass and expect wait times and all will be fine.

Also keep in mind that mid-Feb through late April is PEAK season, so it can be very busy throughout those months....

I agree with Bob, getting airfare earlier than later when it comes to Easter week is a good rule of thumb. Check prices and know what you are willing to spend and then snag it as soon as you come close to your budgeted amount.

Have fun!

It has been awhile since we have gone around Easter but I think it is extremely crowded the weeks on both sides of Easter.

Holidays are always busy - day of, week before and week after
Go to the Parks in the AM - take advantage of the early entry times.
Relax, play mini golf, swim, go shopping in the afternoon.
If you like go back to the Parks in the evening.

Airlines - start to check with the airline of your choice 7-8 months before Easter for best rates. The tickets may not be available till 6 month before (October 2006)
When you find the plane ticket you wish - buy it.
They do sell out fast at major airports.
Arrive at your airport at least 2 hours before flight time.
Holiday crowds. Do not assume just because it is not a weekend, the
airport will not be crowded - kids are off or taken out of school around Easter/mid-winter break.

Dates for around Easter which may help you...
Passover 4/2/07
Holy Thursday 4/5/07
Good Friday 4/6/07
Holy Saturday 4/7/07
Easter Sunday 4/8/07

Many public schools are off the week of Passover and Easter holy days
Which would be the week of 4/2/07 to 4/6/07.
Many Christian schools are off 4/5/07 to 4/13/07 (holy days and week after Easter Sunday)

We have CSR booked for March 31st to April 14th (we'll pull our kids out of school for 2.5 days)

Have fun when ever you go :wizard:

Our spring break wasn't Easter this year, but it was in March and I was shocked at the difference in airfare prices during spring break and summer.

Start watching early when the discount carriers release their prices. We got a great rate this summer on Air Tran, but we booked early. Now the same flight is about 3 times as much.
