Help buying Ipod touch for Christmas

My daughter wants an IPOD touch with a camera for Christmas in white. I know last year I got a refurbished one on the apple site for my son through the recommendations on the boards, does anyone have any suggestions or know of any better deals coming up? I think the 8 gb would be ok for her, she is 11.

I'd stick with the refurbs from the Apple store. I've bought probably a half-dozen computers and an equal number of iPods from there over the years and never had trouble with any of them.

8gb isn't enough! An iPod can last years and your dd will need more than that quickly. My 4 year old has 15 gb worth of data on hers. The 8th would have been over full from day one with my four year old. It is worth the extra money trust me!

Also buy an otter box to put it in! Best case on the market. Also if you want a square trade warranty and buy refurbished you can only get a one year warranty. Rt now on target.com you can print a 10% off iPod coupon plus if you have a target visa or debit you can get another 5% off then you have new and can get a longer square trade warranty if you are interested in an extended warranty.

I am also new to the apple world, and my 12 year old wants a touch for christmas. I've read that with icloud, an 8 gb would be ok, because you can store things on icloud??Any light you can shed I would appreciate it. I'm clueless, and if I need to get a 32 mb I will, just don't want to spend more than I need too... Thanks

Cloud is only available to you when you are connected to wifi so any time traveling or at different locations or in an airplane or basically anywhere without wi fi the stuff on cloud wouldn't be available. The extra cost is worth being able to just hold everything and not be dependent on a computer or wifi! Of course this is just my opinion. I have a Mac book, iPad 2, iPhone, and then dd and dh have iPods. I also have two window computers so I'm not an apple fan boy per say but I hate sinking my devices takes at least 10 minutes and some times 20-30 min... Drives me nuts so I prefer fitting everything I have on it so I can take it everywhere

If your DD wants one with a camera and is white, you won't be able to find a refurbished one on the Apple site- the white was just released last month, so you'll have to buy a brand new one. Target currently has a coupon for 10% off iPods on their website. It's good until 11/26, so your best bet would be to watch the Black Friday sales and see what deals are available on the iPod. I've also heard that you can piggy back the coupon on another Target offer for iPods (such as one for a gift card). HTH!
