We are supposed to go to Disney for a cheer competition for my niece from 4/25th to 5/1st. Can you believe my sister did not book a room yet!!!!! The only Disney resort we can afford is a value (not suites) and they are sold out on the Disney website. Do travel agents hold rooms? Do you think they may still have some of these rooms available? Thanks

She is military also. There are rooms at Shades of Green but we were hoping to get a value for the shuttle and more frequent transportation.

Has she contacted the person in charge of he trip to see if they have rooms? The dancers generally have to have rooms booked through the group, so maybe they have more.

I’d keep checking and also look at 3rd party sites like Expedia and others. If you don’t want SOG or value check a DVC site and see if you can find some DVC rentals. Sometimes the last minute deals can have good price breaks. May not get all the dates you need but you could do a split stay with a value or off property.

Any agency that had contracted for a group booking during that timeframe would have released the rooms by now. As PP's have said, your best bet is to look at 3rd party sites, keep checking the WDW site, stay at Shades of Green or look offsite (perhaps a DS resort would work).

Right, why did she not book with the group? Was she not planning to attend? I mean, I guess it doesn’t much matter, I’m just curious...

She is with Maryland Twisters so they stay at the Gaylord instead of the values. We were going to do values to save with transportation cost. Why she didn't book it earlier is beyond me, she is super bad at planning. I am a plan everything person and she is the complete opposite. It was her trip and I was just tagging along so I was letting her handle it.

Don't believe the website. I have been looking at changing my resort for May 6-10 and the site shows nothing available anywhere when you search for all resorts. I have discovered that if I select just one resort at a time and search for rooms there are some rack rate rooms showing up. For some reason the site now assumes you are looking under the room only discount, but those rooms are all gone for my dates. Probably for yours too.

For military she has to call. I just booked a June trip last weekend on military rate. Never know.

I would strongly recommend trying to get in at the Gaylord. Multiple reasons.

1. For this kind of trip, being in the same place as the bulk of other team members is a huge thing for practices, prep and general social. Staying elsewhere is a logistical nightmare.

2. The cheer niece will have the best experience if staying on the same site as her teammates.

3. This is not your family vacation; it's her cheer trip.

Is the competition at the Gaylord or at Disney? If it's at Disney, the cheer organization should be providing transportation from the hotel to the competition, so you may not need to worry about transportation costs.

I'd also suggest trying to get in at the Gaylord. I'd think your niece would miss out on a lot, being away from the rest of the team.

My niece is staying at the Gaylord. She is required to stay with her team in team rooms for athletes only. We have to drop her off on Friday and she has to stay with her team the entire trip until they are done competing. There is no reason for us to stay in the same place with it costing so much more when we won't get to spend time with her anyway. They keep them together with chaperones to avoid distractions. We will see her on the stage only so we are essentially just hanging out at the parks until competition day.

The competition is Worlds at the ESPN Wide World of sports. My niece is staying at the Gaylord with her team. The only transportation provided from the Gaylord by the cheer team is for the athletes and their chaperones.
