My mom and grandmother are leaving tomorrow to stay in baltimore for couple of days my grandmother has cousin who is at JohnsHopkins. I am trying to find a hotel in the are area for them but I am trying to get an idea of the area to find out what is a safe area for the two of them. They will be taking the train to Penn Station MD and will be at the main JH location.

I am not really familliar with that part of town, but the best option I think would be to check in the forums on Tripadvisor or call the hospital and ask the information desk for a recommendation.

There are many nice hotels in the Inner Harbor area and it is pretty safe. I wouldn't recommend taking a walk late, late at night, but after dark is fine.

I hope her cousin pulls through. :flower3:

If they do not have an auto, I wonder if the Hospital Patient advocate has some thoughts. I know in our area there is a reduced rate to family or patients that are in need at cooperating hotels.

When we visited we stayed out of the inner harbor area in a really nice hotel on the same road/Hwy that the Social security admin was, and an I hop. That was about 7 miles away from the harbor area.
I wish her a speedy recovery.

If you're willing to try Priceline, my FIL just got the Baltimore Marriot Waterfront for $75, plus taxes and fees, on his first bid. It's a lovely 4 star hotel with an indoor pool. Of course, you're not guaranteed a hotel when bidding for a room, but I've always had great success, especially in Baltimore. If you do, just bid 4 star (not lower) and Inner Harbor; then add other zones without 4 star hotels as you go up in price. Check out www.biddingfortravel.com for more info.

I got that EXACT hotel in Baltimore via Priceline. Beautiful area of the city. We used a taxi to go out to dinner because my daughter has heath problems. (we were there to see a Dr as well.)

With Priceline if you pick a 4-5* hotel in this area you cannot go wrong, IMHO.

thank you everyone for the replies I thought about using priceline as I just recently started but I know for my trip to MD Anderson last month I ended up kinda far away which wasn't a problem for me b/c I had my jeep. I was trying to stick with a hotel that offered a shuttle to and from. My grandmother talked to her cousins daughter and she has decided on a sheraton hotel in the Townson (sp?) area.

Thank you as well for the well wishes. Unfortunately she was misdiagnosed a little while back with lymphoma and after being treated she has gotten really sick and they found out it was actually leukemia and she doesn't have much time left. The moved her from the hospital to a hospice car for now.

When I took dd to johns Hopkins we stayed at courtyard of marriot at the inner harbor . They offered a special rate and a voucher for a cab. Cab ride from there is ver reasonable. good luck!

I've stayed there as well. It's a very nice hotel next to the Towson mall. God bless your family!

Towson is a nice area but can be a bit of a drive to Hopkins depending on the traffic (rush hours especially).

Any hotels at Inner Harbor in Baltimore would be fine and much closer.

So sorry to hear about your cousin.
