Help! Asperger 13 yr old & Internet

Oh ok, they must have changed it since we last sailed in a Cat. S. We had the Palo perk but our internet was not unlimited. Good to know they've improved the perks for the Cat. S.

No, I was given incorrect info. The in suite Palo is a perk, but the limited internet exists. Crazy for what the Cat S costs.

True it has no ceiling, but - unless it has changed since February 2015 - it is frosted glass and taller than anyone I ever saw stand next to it. There is a small ribbon of clear running through the frosted glass, but the time we were in there I don't remember people peering in through the clear glass.

This is still the case. The class is high and sections off the guests in that area, but it is still open on the top and has plenty of clearance so people can still see out the windows at the end of the terminal and see the ship. Gotta build that excitement!

Unless you are cruising with the US Basketball team, I have never considered it so low that people can see into it though.

Yes, people who go out on the deck can see in when they turn around, but the vast majority of them are too excited about the cruise to give a rat's patootie about who or what is in there.

I have kids with SPD that cope by using gaming as well. Actually, Minecraft and Youtube are huge here. We camp frequently without internet and I have them load up their devices with games that can be played offline. I know Minecraft in creative mode is not as awesome as playing on a server, though. My kids (and hubby) have recently started up with BTD5 (it's a tower defense game) that can be played offline on the Appstore, and it's pretty addictive. Same with Spore (computer), which they also love. It might be worth finding some apps/games that can be played offline that he would LOVE. No Man's Sky looks like a mix between Spore and Minecraft and he might like it. It's new, so I don't know if it can be played offline or not, though. It's a computer game. I might be able to help you out with games he might like if you want, we are a huge gaming family here.

Correct, and it has been that way for quite a while. It's very much like the glass that surrounds the Concierge sun deck, to be honest.

My son is a few years younger but Aspergers as well, he LOVES the lab just b/c its filled with computer terminals, so he can run and play for awhile, then regroup with a computer game as well. I know that Edge and Vibe both have electronics as well. The only things that were challenges for my son were the loud deck parties and shows which were easy enough for us to avoid. Happy travels!

This was REALLY helpful! Thank you so much!

Knowing its satellite Internet answers my questions about whether or not it could work even a little. Apparently ping sucks with satellite connections making it impossible to play.

I asked Disney CL disabilities this question and a few others. They sent back a form letter. :/ Thank God for disboards!

You've already figured this out, but I just want to confirm that the internet connection is way too slow for gaming, even if you had unlimited mb. Just dealing with a few emails and downloading some small pdf files that I needed ate up the package we purchased in very short order and it was so slow it made me want to throw my phone against the wall. It would be super stressful to attempt gaming online so I am glad you are working on a new coping plan for him now!

Ping time at sea is around 750ms back to the US. You can look up in advance what that will do to any particular game.

the internet connection is FLAKY
it will work some times buy not always.

get a good offline puzzle game if that works.
