Help! Asap! Need new lens fast!!

One thing to keep in mind before selling your 70-300 is that it's aperture is better than on the 18-270 when used at the same focal length (roughly 4 vs 5.6 at 70mm and 5.6 vs 6.3 at 270/300mm).

While it is a pain in the backside to switch lenses at times, if you're planning several shots of something that you know is far away in low light e.g. fireworks from further back, then the 70-300 is the better lens for this because it will most likely save you either 1 jump in ISO or 1 jump in shutter speed :thumbsup2

hmmmm......

I think I'll do this....

My son's band just made it as a state finalist and will compete next weekend in Indianapolis, IN. I'll take both lenses, try them both out and see what I come up with.

Tom you should come out and shoot the event. ;)

Sorry, slight hijack here.

I also have the Canon XS, the kit lens, as well as the Canon 85 mm which I love for indoor sports. I'd also like to upgrade my walkaround lens. I had been looking at the Canon 18-135 or the Tamron 18-200. But now, I'm also looking at the Tamron 18-270. I'm not sure that I would really use that much zoom though.

Any thoughts on if either the 18-135 or the 18-200 would be a good upgrade?
