Four of us will be arriving Friday 1/4/08 at 6:50pm. Should we use the tags and have our luggage delivered to the room or leave the tags off, retrieve the luggage and bring it on the ME. What time should we expect our luggage to the room and what time should we get to the hotel(POP) with either scenario? Any advice or help would be appreciated.

Yes, if you are using Magical Express to transport yourselves to the resort, you should use the tags and allow Magical Express to transport your luggage as well.

Average passenger time from deplaning to debarking is about seventy minutes. This includes getting through the airport, waiting in line (if one exists) for DME, checking in, boarding the bus, and riding to Disney. Pop is usually, but not always, the first stop on its bus.

ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS pack your carry-on luggage with whatever items you will need for the first 24 hours of your trip... said the woman whose luggage went from BOS-JFK-LGB-LAS, the day AFTER she flew nonstop from Boston to Las Vegas. While DME-handled luggage should arrive in your room within three hours after you check in at the resort, they can't do that with luggage the airline misdirected or neglected to put on the plane. Of course, another little-known benefit of Magical Express that, if this does happen, they will take responsibility for tracking, locating, and delivering your luggage when it does get to MCO.

Just supporting what previous poster said...average time from deplaning to resort checkin is 70 mins. Now, at POP, this could vary depending on which stop you are. Most of the time, POP is the first stop, which means you may get there in less than 70 mins. I have usually made it there in about an hour. But the one time POP was the third of three stops jumped my average up to 70 mins..it took 85 mins that time.
If you choose to get your own luggage, you can add about 20 mins to that time....possibly less, but I tend to err on the high side.

Should you get your own bags? Depends on what you will need as soon as you get to POP. At that time of day, you will be able to get right into your room. You should be in the room by 8:15ish. Your bags 'should' arrive around 10-10:30. I usually am not able to sleep that soon after checking in, so I would wait for my luggage to appear and then settle in. I would suggest going for a swim (yes, even at night) or getting a bite to eat and just take a walk around POP..it's really nice to walk around the perimeter of the resort.

But, as always, please be sure to pack your carryon with anything you will need immediatly. That doesn't matter if you are getting your own luggage or letting DME take care of it. If your checked bags go astray (almost all the time that's the airlines fault, not DME), you will have what you need for the evening/morning in your carryon.

Yep, definitely let DME handle your bags. Depending on the ages in your group, that's early enough to get something to eat even away from Pop. But if you have little ones, get them settled, and relax till your luggage arrives.

As other posters have stated, have what everyone needs to go to bed and get up the next morning in a carryon.

I agree- we arrived around 6:30 - the bus stopped at Pop then went to CSR- our resort- by time we came back after getting a bite to eat - our bags were in our rooms.

Thanks for the advice. We are all adults and have a non-stop flight from Providence. Hopefully there should not be a problem with the luggage. However, we are going to let ME deliver the kuggage and will take a carry-on with the necessary items.
